I don't fault him for getting the best deals for his clients, but he's ingrained in the SEC machinery to the point of almost being a gatekeeper for hiring a HC, and that access has given him the ability manufacturer interest for his clients that doesn't actually exist.
Ultimately Sexton is about making money for Sexton. So it's in his best interest to get coaches like Pruitt a raise and an extension, well before it is warranted, so he can get paid before the school fires them, and his income from that coach decreases when they go back to being a coordinator or not coaching at all.
