Who does Berry remind you of?

I have a lot more memories of him playing for the Chiefs than I do of him as a Vol :)

i'm the opposite. i didn't watch him that much as a pro. he was always a favorite. his tackling was inconsistent, however. he may lay the wood on one play but completely whiff on the next. berry never misses, however.

He reminds me a lot of David Fulcher. He played S for the Bengals in the mid-80's.

Holy god. I haven't thought of that guy in years. Fulcher was a much bigger guy though. Somewhere in the range of 6'3" 235lbs. That was the size of most LBs back in those days.

Physically he reminds me of Lott. Hitting style too. I still want to see more of him one-on-one with a number 1 WR to really evaluate his cover skill. Even though that isn't what he will usually be asked to do. But he will occasionally have to cover a slot wr in man-to-man. Anybody have any idea what his current best 40 time is? I though I heard he was a 4.51 when he was being recruited. I expected him to be faster than that.

Yeah, Fulcher was a beast, and he was much bigger than Berry. For some reason he reminds me of him on how well he plays the run.I guess it's Eric's "old school" style that reminds me of him....which is refreshing, and a joy to watch.

EB will be somewhat bigger by the time he gets a couple of years under him in the NFL,but he still won't be as big as Fulcher was though because of the height difference.

I agree. His punishing hit's on receivers reminds me a lot of Ronnie Lott.

He is fun to watch, he reminds me of John Lynch or Ronnie Lott. Berry strikes like a shark he can be just cruising in when someone has a guy held up and if the guy doesnt go down he can eccelerate in a couple of steps and deliver a slobber knocker.

He kind of hits like Ronnie Lott, with Deion Sanders speed. I think thats his secret, his speed. Everyone else seems to be in slow motion around him.

He does sort of hit like Ronnie Lott, but he doesn't have Deion Sanders' speed. Let's be realistic.

If he puts about 10 more pounds of muscle on......he will have to be registered as a lethal weapon!

The Juggernaut off of X-Men, with the way his pads sit on his shoulders. :)

Honestly, Berry is unique unto himself. I don't think there's been any S like him. Sean Taylor was the size of a linebacker, and though Berry plays like a LB, he's still the conventional size. I don't wanna compare him to hall of famers like Ronnie Lott and Primetime, cuz that would be an insult to Berry.

For whatever reason, he kinda reminds me of Brian Dawkins in his prime. Ed Reed is a good comparison too, but Berry is more physical than Reed.

You're not gonna insult anyone by comparing them to Ronnie Lott. He's a man.

Lott started his career as a CB, then moved to safety... very versatile. That, plus the hitting ability, makes Lott a very good comparison. But Lott didn't have the speed/moves of Berry.

I hope Berry has the leadership/intangibles that Lott brought. Signs so far make me think he does.

Steve Atwater

Hitting, yes. Tackling, no. Atwater was a horrible tackler.

Watch Super Bowl 24, when he repeatedly tried to knock Jerry Rice down with head and shoulders, but no arms. Watch Rice bounce off and jog into endzone.

When is the last time anyone has seen the combination of Athleticism and Power that EB brings. He amazes with all the nifty returns but he also lays the lumber when he tackles. This guy has the return ability of a Deion Sanders and the Hitting ability of Ronnie Lott.

Berry ran an electronic sub 4.4 at a combine his SR year with a cast on his right forearm. Idk where you got the 4.51 from.

Sweet time! That sounds more like it. I remember reading some article when he was being recruited that he was a great athlete but they specifically said he "only ran a 4.51 but he is quick". Thats been about three years ago though. I just remember thinking that I was surprised he was rated that high if that was his best time. I subscribe to Rivals but not sure if that is where it was from.
