Seriously? No....just no

I meant in terms of what it means to the fans of the schools involved, not any sort of objective thing. To the fans of Florida-Georgia, that game "used to" mean as much to us as the 'bama game does to you, or Michigan does to tOSU, or Oklahoma does to Texas. I'm not saying that the games are on a par with each other to the rest of the country or to some sort of overall football diety, but to the fans of those schools, they are the games they look forward to every year.

I beg to differ

Im on the fence here, Florida has had recent success and both coaches are big time jerks. Its not an easy vote. I mean, BAMA I think is hated for the past, they are not that huge factor they were 20 years ago. They are still a force to be reckoned with in this type of rivalry setting, but their not in a NC hunt or big bowl game on a consistent basis. I dont know, somebody clarify it for me.

If the UT/Bama game does not get you as excited (or more for many of us) than UF you might want to re-evaluate your choice of school to follow. This rivalry is what CFB is all about and has been since the beginning.

On November 18, 1901, the University of Alabama and the University of Tennessee first locked horns on a football field. At the contest's end, the score was tied, nothing had been resolved, and about two thousand fans were on the field at Tuscaloosa, fighting.

You guys remind me of a couple of old geezers sitting on the steps of a nursing home talking about the good ole' days under FDR. Tradition is great, but don't get it confused with simply living in the past.

I didn't read through all of the replies and I'm sure this has been brought up, historically I hate Bama the most. The only reason I voted that I hate them both is b/c of UF's recent success, and Bama's fall from grace.

I literally loathe both teams, and until UF's NC I'd say I hate Bama more. But since the NC, all of these bandwagon jumpers have come out of the woodwork sporting Gator garb.

I hate the Gators more right now.

I'll be 30 in 2 weeks.

Agree. I don't think I need to "re-evaluate my choice of school to follow" because I hate Florida more than an unranked team in different division.

I'll keep on following the Vols- thanks.

allright Volmania, we're close in age so I think we can relate, Florida has had success, but Bama has always had this hyped up rival, right? Cool. When Bama plays somebody else, do you pull for them if it will help the Vols? Personally, when Florida plays, I am always pulling against them. I cant bring myself to pull for them regardless. I might back Bama if the opponent was right. Your thoughts?

Go read the "I Hate the Alabama Crimson Tide" thread for any clarification on why Bama will always be at the top of the hate meter......granted Florida is right there with them, but it's a different kinda hate.

long time listener, first time caller....The dislike for UF is damn for sure warranted and I harbor a lot of it. The seething hatred for Bama nearly takes on a life of it's own this week. Alabama arrogance coupled with memories of the '70's and the '80's make this a really easy question.

I hate them both and for differing reasons.

I guess if I had to give a small nod to one or the other it would be Florida. The 90's really were tough to go through.

For the sake of the poll, I am 27.

I'm 32 and I put Bama, not b/c of the losing streak I suffered through during my formative years but b/c even to this day, it sucks way worse to lose to Bama than it does Florida. I've grown accustomed to losing to Florida and believe that they've truly had a better program than us for most of the past 2 decades, but I always thought we should beat Bama. The last rampage I had after a UT loss was when David Palmer singlehandedly brought them down the field and converted the 2-pt conversion for a tie against a Shuler-led UT team in the early 90s. Still can't believe we (lost) that game.

That game also has been burned into my memory.

That is my first distinct UT football memory.

living in austin i am constantly comparing our rivalries with a few around here.

TEXAS = TENNESSEE - the good guys
A&M = BAMA - the bad guys with tons of tradtion and rivalry between the two.
OKLAHOMA = FLORIDA - seem to have our number and constantly giving us hell on the field.

I hated that game. Anyone watching it knew what was coming and we couldn't stop it.

There was a very dark cloud on campus for the rest of that week.

I hated bama when i was little, then when we started winning a lot against them the hatred went down some and picked up for florida. but after i moved to bama to play college bball two of my teammates that I lived with the whole time i've been down here were bama fans. most years i could just smile at the end of the tn bama game. then when we lost a few yrs back they talked more noise than anyone. made me hate them again. plus at work since saban has come there hearing all this NC talk and how they will win the SEC by next year is disgusting. they really are retarded

I couldnt agree more. Where the sips dont even consider my aggies, it makes for a big game. aTm lost to their REAL rival this past Saturday v Texas Tech. The Vols apparently will be playing their REAL rivalry game v BAMA. Great observation. Aint it funny how Texans always see eye to eye?
