This may be one of those things that if you have to define it, you don't get it.Is the definition of "rival" the team that you are most evenly competitive with, the team you can't seem to ever get a leg up.on, or the team you just dislike the most? Seems like the answer could vary depending on the criteria.
I remember Spurrier saying "its not a rivalry when one team wins all the time". Not sure if he was referring to GA or TN or both at the time.Is the definition of "rival" the team that you are most evenly competitive with, the team you can't seem to ever get a leg up.on, or the team you just dislike the most? Agree. Getting rid of divisions took a little something out of it IMO. Gotta go Bama.People don’t seem to understand that after the east west split the FL game became way more critical than the bama game. FL loss meant Fl had to lose twice for us to win East. We lose to bama and it doesn’t impact East. That caused their game to be most impactful one for 25 plus years. Now, now it probably reverts back to history and would be Alabama again.
I can tell you that in N. gumpville they absolutely hate us more than the burn.I think you're wrong.
More specifically, I think for a lot of Bama fans, you're wrong.
Not all of them, of course. They'll be split between us and Auburn the same way we're split between them and Florida. And, amusingly, the age difference among their fans seems to be about the same as our fans: those over 40 tend to hate Tennessee the most, those younger opt for Auburn.*
But a whole lot of them put Tennessee at the top of their hate list. They say it all the time. Proof is all over the internet.
Go Vols!
* Alabama football fans. Bigger Rivalry. Auburn or Tennessee?
