This brings up a good point. The history of the Tennessee-Alabama game means that they hate each other, but there’s also respect between the two (even if the fans don’t like to admit it).

Florida is trash and it’s just disdain for them. Zero respect.

I remember Saban saying he had to get his teams up for Auburn but never Tennessee. How do Bama fans view us as a rival? Second to Auburn? High Second?

It matters as to when you become a fan. Pre 92 it’s bama. 92 - 15 it’s Florida and after 15 most likely Georgia.

Vandy hasn’t been relevant since the General started at Tennessee, and Kentucky has for the most part never been relevant in football.

Growing up in the late 70's early 80s I was taught LSU, Auburn, and Bama was our equal rivals, but you hate Bama HATE because this started before there was a SEC. You know the Bear could not beat Neyland. Vandy and Kentucky were just there to be beat as that was our birthright, the other teams in football were just lesser thing beneath you. Remember we never played Georgia and Florida, Ole miss and Miss state well lol they are what they are.

I personally hate fLorida just a little bit more than the tide, but I don't think there's any denying that the red elephants are our number 1

I’m 30 so maybe you would assume I’d say Florida, but it’s still obviously Bama. Not even a real debate imo

I’m 37 years old. All of my life, the Tennessee vs Florida game has always been one of the biggest games of the season, near the top. BUT when Tennessee plays Alabama, all bets are off. That is the most electric anticipated game of the season. They call it the Third Saturday in October for a reason. Border rivals in the best conference in college football. Stakes are high and all bets are off. Bama is our biggest rival.

Historically it's Bama and I can accept that.

For those of us who grew up in the late 80s/early 90s though, it's Florida hands down. Those games were a nationwide stop the world event for a decade there man. Basically on par with UGA playing Bama in 2018 or so or Georgia vs Texas this past season.

It is what it is.

Tonight’s bball game confirms its Florida for me. I absolutely despise them in all sports, as a university and in general.

I am an OLD HEAD and Bama is our #1 rival and likely willl be for years to come. However, Florida and Georgia fall behind Kentucky as #2 on the list. We have played them well over 100 games and they are bitter enemies. It shows in our games against them when We were not as good as we are now. The team and fans are always ready for the Kentucky game. We have also played in-sate rival, Vanderbilt, for over 100 years and they would rather beat Tennessee than any other team in the Nation. While they have not been as competitive as most of us would like, when we lose a game to them, the team and most fans regret that loss than any others. To me, that classifies as a rival. Georgia and Florida are "come lately" rivals and both have more wins against us than any other teams except for Alabama. We were in the same East side of the SEC for a number of years and those losses to them cost us opportunities to play in major bowl games for a number of years, It was an era when our football teams were not as competitive as they have been they last few years, not forgetting the Fulmer successful years, when they had winning records against us. All of this is to say, we have a lot of rivals and it is important for us to beats each of them every time we meet. We probably have more "rivals, than any other team in the Nation and I like it that way. I want to beat all of them every year.

I think you're wrong.

More specifically, I think for a lot of Bama fans, you're wrong.

Not all of them, of course. They'll be split between us and Auburn the same way we're split between them and Florida. And, amusingly, the age difference among their fans seems to be about the same as our fans: those over 40 tend to hate Tennessee the most, those younger opt for Auburn.*

But a whole lot of them put Tennessee at the top of their hate list. They say it all the time. Proof is all over the internet.
