Who deserves to have their number retired at UT?

Al Wilson has my vote..i love Eric Berry & he was an AWESOME player, but i just dont think he is worthy of a Tennessee jersey retirement.

Erik Ainge, Matt Simms... Is stephens in the hall? And Berry of course

If Kent isn't in b/c of Manning, then Jerry Rice doesn't deserve HOF.

Don't you mean Montana doesn't deserve HOF?

Rice > Montana

Hands down Rice had the most dominant career at any position in NFL history.

But either way your point is right. Kent was awesome.

THREE of the following...

•Inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame
•SEC Player of the Year
•First Team All-American
•Heisman Trophy winner
•Winner of either the Sullivan Award, Draddy Award, or SEC Athlete of the Year (all sports)

....AND, THREE of the following:

•Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame
•NFL Offensive or Defensive MVP
•FIVE Pro Bowl selections
•Own a major single season or career statistical record

Anybody who did that.

Put in place by Fulmer to keep Majors out.

All i know is that its insane that Lauricella isnt retired... i mean #27 shoulda been put away decades ago.

the rest mentioned are debatable.

UT is not MTSU.......

The BEST of the BEST need to be retired!

Like I have said, Lauricella and Majors HAS to be done!

Al Wilson, Joey Kent, p.Price, ect..were very good!.....But NOT the best!

1 more time......for those that don't read.....

Neyland
Cafego
Lauricella
Majors
Manning
White
Adkins

THAT IS IT! AS of now.......maybe Heath should be considered.

I happen to agree, which is why I included the word "arguably," but the point remains. There have been a bunch of players on Henderson's level come through UT over the years, some even on his own team.

Winning the Outland is his best argument, but Steve DeLong won one, too. Would you retire 65?

Yes???

That's the reason I wish they would have limited the retirements to the 4 fallen soldiers. There have been a ton of outstanding football players come through Knoxville over the years. Honor them by putting them in a ring of fame and make the criteria, "great player, all-America." Leave the bickering over who is worthy of retirement to the internet chat boards rather than the University declaring that three of these guys were more worthy than the rest.
No, No, and No! That was also Flubtard's number.

I think what a player meant to a university and the teams they played on should be looked at when deciding retired numbers. I'm all for strict criteria, but I also think there are some special cases that need to be looked at.

I think Berry is going to have his retired one day, cause I think he'll have that NFL success, so I don't think we'll need to argue for his.

Until and unless he is inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, he does not meet the college criteria.
