Who Called In Sick?

What coach doesn't talk to the media about a poor practice when it happens? Fulmer did it. EVERY coach does it... some people are sooooo naive.

Literally there are some people there from 7 or 8 in the am until 10 or 11 pm every single day. Being a football coach makes the grind of big law look like nothing.

Yeah, no one did anything like that last year. It was high-class Knoxville strippers all day.

And you definitely can't find any of our coaches out at a bar.

Good grief..I just hope CDD doesn't read these message boards. Seeing how finicky a lot of our fan base is, I can't say I would blame Dooley the first time another head coaching job comes up somewhere else and him wanting to take it. STOP complaining about what CDD is doing here, and give the man some time....geez. Not everybody's style is the same, and as long as he can win games then who cares what he says or does. He just needs time people.

But men do hide behind keyboards to express their complaints, and that's not cowardly? Hypocritical statement of the year.

Ive seen him get "all up in" several men's faces on the sidelines during the game, including coaching staff, players, and refs.

It's been said several times by asst. coaches that they have a lot of respect for Dooley and he demands a lot from them. That being said, I wouldn't doubt that he tore them a new one, before going live with the fact that he was angry.

He didnt call them by name, or release them to the hounds. He's just telling it like it is.

Explain to me this hide behind a keyboard thing? Is there another way to log on here beside the internet? I didn't realize there was a pistols as high noon option.

to start winning some damn football games and put a product on the field that plays 4 quarters. That would be a good start in shutting us up!

Word. Bottom line, what's said in the press conference doesn't mean much. It's just a pet peeve. I don't really see the point. Expect a lot from your team and let them know when they've messed up, but what's the point of the "poor me" attitude in the press conference. No excuses. Let's win some games.

That's what I've been saying in my criticisms of CDD. I want the guy to succeed and I'm willing to give him the time to do it, but stop using the excuses so much. We know it was a bad situation, we know the program was run into the ground, we know you are thin on the roster - what most of us "critics" want to see is improvement and a coach that is going to take the heat without blaming everyone and everything else.

Well unfortunately we don't have a product like that right now that we can put on the field, or kind of like the saying goes that you can't squeeze blood out of a turnip.

you would think that after Kiffin fired someone last year for sending a limo late to pick him up, the admin staff would be on top of it

That never happened. That was a blatantly false statement made by Kiffin. Some staff members moved around and he spun that the way he wanted to to Sports Illustrated and nobody had enough balls to call him out on it.

I do not think Coach Gran would like working on this staff. There is not the strippers and cocaine and drinking and carrying on, but there is an expectation that you have no life outside of whatever Dooley wants, whenever he wants it.

MHF, I read and tolerate a lot of the crap you post, but saying something like that about Eddie Gran makes me so angry I can barely stand it. You obviously have ZERO clue about the man and his family. It makes me sick that you would associate his name with "strippers and cocaine." Sick. You are a sorry person for saying something like that. Of all the people that were on the Tennessee Football staff in 2009, he the absolute LAST person that would be involved in something like that.

I won't dispute that there was a fraternity house mentality among SOME of the previous staff, but I know for an absolute fact that he was appalled by some of the things that went on here last year and took the first opportunity to get out and away from our previous staff.

more than Dooley has

Really? In his first year? Dooley has repeatedly thrown the players under the bus. I don't care if it is true or not, don't place the blame of a loss on the players when talking to the media. Like it or not, they will quit on you.

ESPECIALLY don't do it when you have players from 3 staffs in one locker room and you are trying to build unity.

Talking about how the players quit, how practice is the worst you have seen, how people should show up sick, injured or dead is just dumb.

"We need to work on fundamentals, get timing and basics down. I need to get to work, see you guys."

I think the wheels already fell off and we arent gonna get them back on this season. I was hoping for a strong finish but I have heard alot of bad things about the mindset of this team. Talent and depth aside they are not on the same page.

i'm couldn't agree more. Wether Dooley is liked or not, he's our coach. Just like a young player that developes over time, Dooley and staff will learn from their mistakes and develope over time. I don't like Dooley saying all that stuff on camera, or talking about players, but he is from the Saban tree. And Saban is notorious for running coaches off, but noone is questioning his methods. I know winning makes it all better, but he doesn'tt even have his own players. Has Dooley made mistakes, absolutely, but thatns part of being human. As for hiding behind a keyboard comments, this is a INTERNET FORUM. Those of you making those comments, i'm suprised you have enough sense to find the power switch on the computer.

I may be wrong, but I think that some of the team is pissed at the staff about what happened at the end of the LSU game. The players won the game on the field, but the coaches lost the game. With all the players that left after Fulmer, and even more after Kiffen, who knows how many don't want to be a part of what Hamilton has done, and I can't say I blame them.

"If I gave you a million dollars, would you go to work today if you're sick? 'Oh yeah, I would have gone.' Then why didn't you go? What do you need a million dollars for?" If you can go, go. That's your obligation to the organization. That's how it works."

Good question. How about giving a million dollars worth of your salary back. Whatya need it for?

Speaking as a person who is actually off work today because I'm sick, I would've went in to work for a million dollars. Doesn't mean I actually feel like working or should work. A lot of us would do a lot of things for a million bucks that we normally wouldn't do. And that doesn't mean we should normally do them.
