Who are Bruce Pearl's allies?

I won't doubt there will be plenty there to cheer when BP wins a NC. My question is how many will still be around cheering in 10yrs if he doesn't? I have seen too many years of mediocre basketball played in TBA when very few fans showed up.
I don't think Bruce will let that happen. He's always thinking about the next stunt, the next gimmick - anything to get folks in the door.

I say have orange clowns riding unicycles during the pregame if that's what it takes.

Pearl is too good at marketing to let TBA sit empty again.

What you saw in the past are known as wasted resources.

I mean, Fulmer puts 107,000+ in the football stadium, and we all know that he doesn't always win. The fans are there if the program is one of two things: competitive or entertaining. Pearl makes our BBall program both.

That beats the heck of of Herman, Lilly and Grandpa.

At least Eddie gets to roll in that sweet T-Bucket shaped like a coffin.

How does that thing look with Gator flags on it?

The best thing about college basketball is that the polls are just for entertainment, the NC is decided on the floor. Yeah, some will say rankings can get you in the tourney or determine your seed, but while it helps I don't think it matters as much as the RPI and the committee's take on the team.

IMO, our two SEC road wins at the end of the season is going to be a big factor in an improved seed from the committee. We've shown that with Lofton back, we're a team to be reckoned with, regardless of the venue.

I'm just saying that one could get the impression on here that other coaches don't like Pearl.
Kevin Stallings got his panties in a wad due to Coach Pearl painting himself orange and Coach Summitt coming to the Florida game as a cheerleader. :cray: But then, who gives a rats behind what Kevin Stallings says.

Apparently nobody. Which doesn't bother me at all. What's done is done at Illinois-Iowa, and his behavior since he's come to Tennessee has not been in question even remotely. How many coaches give up $100K of their own money to start a scholarship that could benefit any sport at the university? Probably some, and I'd applaud any that did such a thing. Has Fulmer? But wait - he only makes about twice what Pearl does, for coaching about a third the number of games, so that would be a silly thing to expect of him...

before you bash CPF know what your talking about. He has given a lot more as has Pat and Delmonico as well. CBP did a great thing so don't diminish it by bashing another UT coach. If you haven't noticed Pearl and Fulmer have become pretty tight.

Got it. I shouldn't have gone there. And I'm pulling for CPF to return the excitement he has had for much of his UT career.
