I've never said it did. However I would prefer to deal with auto insurance than medical for my wife if the choice is available (and it was)

you are. I'm not emulating anything. I'm telling you that dismissing his point is senseless. He has one and it's valid. His point is every bit as valid as yours is. You're arguing the side of the criminals, acting as if they had right to beat the hell out of someone for driving in their hood.

and again, I've never said it did. My thoughts are simply that the guy was an idiot for getting out of the car and exposing himself and his family to harm. Never excused the attackers and never will

Who cares? Regardless if you would or would not have gotten out of your car is meaningless. He got out of his car and proceeded to get jumped by a bunch of teenagers. Good to know you would have acted differently but your hypothetical actions in this situation are meaningless.

not meaningless when it was a very real option the driver chose to ignore. That was a group of teenagers who felt comfortable enough to kick his car in the middle of the road. What is the possible outcome of getting out while they're still standing there to "inspect the damage"?

Prudent actions can be acknowledged without giving a pass to a crime. Here's a more common one:

You get a knock at the door at 1:00 AM. Do you just open the door and see who it is? If you do that and are attacked your being criticized for being imprudent is quite valid. It has nothing to do with addressing the criminality of whatever actions the person at the door may have taken.

Quit making it about the driver. Regardless if he honked the problem was started when the teenagers kicked his car which was obviously unnecessary which directly led to him getting out and inspecting the damage and thus getting jumped.

And don't give me any drivel about he shouldn't have honked his horn. It's his car and he can honk at whoever he damn well pleases.
