If they have to stop the game for 20 min, move students, and things like golf balls are being thrown; it is a big deal. This looks horrible from an optics standpoint nationally. Like it or not, you have to know your situation. We are the now lover team that shuffles through coaches, and has a trashy fanbase to boot.
1. We do not shuffle through coaches. Not at all. Most any other school would have rightfully fired the last few losers sooner and been justified in doing so. When we have had decent coaches, they’ve hung around for practically eons.
2. You and anyone thinking this kind of thing wouldn’t happen at any major SEC school are kidding yourselves.
3. Thamiel and Wolkien will cry about this for awhile, but no one will remember this by November.

Then he brings his bs into our stadium with a game plan of unsportsmanlike flops all over the field

This is the only thing you wrote I agree with, but even if true it's still not illegal and it shouldn't have determined the final outcome of the game. And while I understand the fans' frustration, they acted immaturely and imo the fans who let a football game drive them to lose their civility are the ones who need to tread lightly and reflect on when and where they should get mental health counseling.

Bad officiating happens at sporting events every year.

"Spare me the indignation." Indeed.

And fans get pissed about it every week. If at any point the officials could bring themselves to not blatantly favor Alabama and made a call that resulted in them losing a game, that fan base would tear the stadium to the ground.

This is hilarious. Let blame Kiffin, Ga, Fl, Al and the tooth fairy. Let's not blame Fuller, shi,,y coach hires, poor recruiting and i am sure the lost could go on. Oh yeah... REFS. CJH is on the right track but if he was smart he would pull a Kiffin and go build a program that can't stop loving in the past. How can this environment be good for any coach or player. I still say that i hope recruits do not get on this forum. What a complete lack of taste. This isn't a Disney feel good movie. Its will take time to get back to where we want to be and what happened last night was a huge setback...

recruits don’t have to get on this forum. They were rheir they saw it first hand.
Top recruits not only in football. Women’s basketball as well as others. Horrible
This is another setback

Alcohol being sold at Neyland is just trying to squeeze out another dollar for UTAD and after watching this mess for the past 15 years hell you need a beer/truly and a mask to cover your eyes and nose after watching the stinch over and over. But will give this year's teams and coaches credit they are trying.

Perhaps the AD was hoping for happy drunks, or at least somber drunks with the alcohol sales. Instead, they got angry drunks.

Everyone look, we have a moral superior that needs attention! What a example for us all to be!

Tennessee has the BEST and MOST PASSIONATE fan base of ANY team in the country and it’s not even close. What we witnessed last night with102,455 people coming to watch a 4-2 team that hasn’t accomplished anything in 15 years, screaming at the top of our lungs would not have happened at any other school, Bama, UGA, Oklahoma, Penn State , anywhere, you name it. One of these days , our fans will get rewarded for their loyalty and passion. I truly believe Heupel is the bast offensive mind we have ever had at UT and if he can recruit, he will bring us back to being part of the elite once again. Now, when you add alcohol, 15 years of built up frustration, an antagonist snake like Kiffin , and piss poor officiating, some young fans are going to act like morons and do what they did. However, that is such a small fraction of our fan base and was mostly students in which 80% were inebriated. The other 95,000 fans were civil.

Couldnt agree more. You nailed it. Were the actions of a few fans appropriate? Absolutely not, but it wasn’t, IMO, just a reaction to Kiffin. It was EVERYTHING combined

Don’t disagree with everything OP said, but Lane can get in line behind the litany of incompetent decisions by Mike Hamilton and all the other ADs, admin and BOT members over the past 10-12 years and their inexplicable coaching hires that continued to sink this program further with every hire. We’re Tennessee and should have easily been able to survive the departure of Kiffin, no matter how much of a douche move it was. We didn’t handle our businesses as a University. Ideologues ruined it. Let’s keep supporting Heupel, because I’m very pleased with the level of competent football and effort this staff and players that we are witnessing. And we’re playing with two hands tied behind our back every game.

Danny White will not have 102,000 + in the stadium the rest of the year, he can enjoy looking at the polite friendly aluminum throughout the stadium, I'd have a lot more respect for him if he was in Birmingham Monday morning with the clips of the touchdown fumble return with no whistle or referee right hand raised, multiple no calls of the holding of our defensive ends all night long and the difficult missed spot when the receiver is laying on the line to gain. Somebody in the million dollar a year administration needs to stand up for program rather than blaming fans, particularly when asking them to pay three times more for their seats next year

Living in the past? Maybe fans try to coup with the 66-70 record TN has over the last 14yrs or the fact that not just the corrupt SEC office but our own leadership, TN ITSELF, HAS DONE NOTHING BUT SHAT ON THIS PROGRAM AND ITS FANS FOR 14YRS STRAIGHT!

The academics wanted football to lose while still collecting the checks, well this is what you create! AN INSANELY FRUSTRATED AND ANGRY FANBASE.

THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!! Those of you that think this scene will hurt recruiting obviously don't know much about current teenagers and the social media generation.

This event proved one thing about our fanbase----a lot of you guys are soft as hell. Your moral high-grounds and demands for total safety are the reason that football has turned into two-hand-touch. Your pious indignation is far more toxic than throwing things from the stands.

I was happy to see our fans fight back and not lick the boot.

I kind of agree with White and Plowman’s message. Delivery could be better though. This was a small number of fans relative to the number of great fans that supported this team. Need to read the room better or lose it.

They should research the root cause and use the 6 why analysis! They are paid to think!
Root Cause is great, but the 6 why’s should lead to a counter measure. Without a resolution the why’s are just why’s… there is a lack of courage when folks only address symptoms.

I read on the Texas fan site whether they should rethink whether they want to be associated with these Tennessee a-holes. It's a fair question. Even more so when you read all the posts here trying to justify this trashy behavior.
Funny, they didn’t seem to mind the association in 1835…maybe a little self reflection for their fan base would be in order for the way they treated their own players in the past. I’m not justifying anything that happened after the missed opportunity, last night, but the virtue signaling from other fan bases is really rich.
