White just admitted........

No where near what White said. White stated that he only offered the job to one man and that was Heupel. Although he spoke with multiple, the only one he was comfortable with was Josh. The reason for not wanting Josh was because he didn’t want to hurt the UCF players.

Yeah, I own a bridge in Manhatten I like to sell you.

That he wasn't even considering Heupel for this job.

ESPN also reporting what most "insiders" were saying. We were flat rejected by all the coaches White thought were better than Heupel.

UCF's Heupel named Tennessee's next coach
So, who else was he gonna get ? This program is in the ditch right now and we are looking at some serious sanctions coming. No coach worth a damn is gonna sign up for that. I think most of us know Heupel wasn't his first choice but we also know he wasn't gonna get up in front of the world and say that. We're just lucky we got anybody right now. Nobody likes it but that's where we are.

I love this program and will continue to love it through the misery associated with its on-the-field performance over much of my adult life...but even I realize this program is a very tough sell. Some of you do not want to admit it, and have a very sheltered, and biased view of it, but it is not an easy job. Why would a recruit choose us over Alabama, Florida, Ohio State, Georgia, Clemson, or other similar schools in our immediate recruiting territory? Outside of our immediate recruiting territory, why would a kid from Texas choose us over Texas, Texas A&M, or Oklahoma? Why would a kid from the western US choose us over the top programs out there? Why would a kid from the upper midwest choose us over the top programs there? Or if the kid is willing to leave those other areas of the country, and is a top recruit, why would they choose us over all the other schools in our area that I mentioned earlier? Quite frankly, you have to wonder how we got recruits to come here over some of those programs. I think we are finding out. With the NCAA now on the horizon, I wonder why a coach would come here to try to recruit against them with the additional handcuffs that will most likely be placed upon them? Not an easy job and certainly not a job a successful coach is going to leave their current program for....or if they are at a smaller program then why not wait for a better job to open up?

There are many gullible idiots on this board who dont believe this. They think Heupel was the #1 target because White sold it to them hook line and sinker. That's why I have to make threads like this to combat the idiocy coming from our crappy fan base.

riiiiiiiight. What did you expect him to say?

Well, the truth according to some on here would roll off like "I tried to hire 11 other coaches, all far better than this idiot that used to work for me at UCF, but he was the only moron that would take this lousy, low-end job." Wonder if that would make us all happy. By the way, all grown-ups understand the polite-speech requirements of business.

Every AD says they only offered one guy, who happens to be the guy that accepted. You better believe more were offered in a roundabout way.
Remember the AD don’t offer. The search firm basically comes back to the AD with who will take the job and then the AD goes to work.
