Which streak comes to an end first in 2015?

Can't wait for the UF fans to be saying things like "Well its about time" or "1 out of 11 aint bad"

I hope we beat the brakes off them. Like a 4 TD arse whoopin'.

I'm telling you right now. We beat Florida this year. Mark it down. 34 - 13 Butch was absolutely miserable after that game last year. I think this year, the Florida game will mean a lot to him. I think we beat Georgia if we are completely healthy going into that game. But IMHO, I think the outcome of the OK game will play into what our season will look like.

Great topic!!

Georgia, the Vols were really close the last two season, turnovers at the goal line really cost them.

After 10 years of agony against the Gators, it will really be nice to get that monkey of our back! I just hope they can get it done in the swamp.

It's a mental game at this point. We have to find a way to pull one off. We've been more talented the past two years and have choked.

While I agree a lot of its mental, a lot of it too is that Florida has been the more talented team the majority of the time for the last 40 years.

It's almost like a mantle that's been handed down from player to player, team to team, staff to staff, administration to administration....."if you're gonna play football at Tennessee, you must understand and take to heart the idea that you're inferior to Florida and you will/must lose to them every single time you play". Is it possible there's some initiation ritual that's done annually with all incoming players and coaches in some cavern deep below Neyland Stadium that we just don't know about?

I'm of the belief (at this point) that you could put the Lenoir City HS team in UF unis and they would beat UT.

These streaks have to come to an end at some time. We're not going to be able to use the "talent" excuse much longer. I have a feeling we'll get 2 of the 4 this season between UF, UGA, Bama, and Mizzou even though 3 of the games are on the road.

I agree. I think we kick UF's butt this year....... but I've thought that so many times in the past and.......:banghead2:

We play Florida first.

I've already stated that this IS the year we drain their nasty swamp and come home with a 27-17 WIN.

I even started a thread on this and I gave a detailed explanation of why I believe that we leave that nasty swamp with the WIN and the gators crying.

I'm still on the 8 regular season Win bandwagon but anything IS possible especially if we get on a Win streak starting in Nashville and then beating Oklahoma to get the confidence levels way up.

Get Oklahoma and Florida and keep their feet and heads well grounded, confidence way up and stay focused then we could have a special season with all of us saying at the end of the year that we all finally watched buTch and our Vols turn the corner.

#BrickbyBrick...VFL...GBO!!!

In all seriousness, Florida is a real wild card because I don't think anyone could possibly know how good or bad Florida will be.

Florida went bowling last year and we didn't even bother with that crazy little thing called the forward pass.

I know this will be taken as pure Gator homer and I get it, but if Florida actually has a functional offense they can be pretty good.

It's just assumed that they won't have a functional offense. I understand that assumption because for four years I assumed the offense had to be better because it couldn't get any worse. It got worse.

Be that as it may, call it homer optimism, but with a new staff that doesn't have it's head up its rear I don't expect the return of the fun 'n' gun, but I don't expect Florida to have games where fans have to be medically treated for shock because a pass was completed beyond the line of scrimmage either.

So you are saying that a new coach and system do not cripple a team to the point where they cannot possibly beat a good team or lose at least one game to an inferior team?

That will be news to several posters here.

That said, Muschamp is a pretty good defensive coach. You'll miss him on that side of the ball.

And yes... your homerism is definitely showing.

I think the defense won't be as good without him.

The situations at Florida and Tennessee are different, which you disagree with.

When Butch and Dooley were hired, the offense, defense and special teams needed to be fixed and talent upgraded across the board.

At Florida, the defense and special teams, for the most part, are fine.

The offense needs to be fixed.

It's a little different when you have to fix one phase of the team as opposed to all three phases.

In addition, I'm not talking about competing for championships here, I'm talking about not being a laughing stock.

The bar I am setting is that it's possible they aren't as bad as the last two seasons. Not even necessarily in the win-loss record, but just passing the eyeball test.

Is this where I, as KBVol, come in with a "it doesn't matter how good or bad Florida is, they'll beat Tennessee this year"?

26 Sep Flo
3 Oct Geo
10 Oct Ark
17 Oct bye
24 Oct o-bama

That's a real tough stretch but if we can win 2-3 of those we will be SECe Champs.

Really hate to play a ground pounding game against Ark after the two previous games. Will be emotionally and physically demanding no doubt!

Worley's poor play cost us the Florida game last year. Dobb's is a totally different animal.....Vols take down the Lizards in the Swamp! :dance2:

I wish that was all but we had issues everywhere in that game. Worley, while bad, out performed each UF qb both combined and individually.

Florida

c/att yds avg td int
Jeff Driskel 11/23 59 2.6 0 3
Treon Harris 2/4 17 4.3 0 0

Tennessee

c/att yds avg td int
Justin Worley 26/39 205 5.3 0 2

When they were hired? Yes. Jones wasn't just hired. He's headed into his 3rd year and the "new system", "not developed right", "not his players", "had to change the culture", etc reasons/excuses are gone. This thread is about ending UT streaks... I took it from your response that you didn't expect the one with UF to end?

The offense needs to be fixed.

It's a little different when you have to fix one phase of the team as opposed to all three phases.
Jones has now had 3 years and 3 recruiting classes to fix what was broken.

In addition, I'm not talking about competing for championships here, I'm talking about not being a laughing stock.
So if UF loses to UT to end the streak they will be a laughing stock?

The bar I am setting is that it's possible they aren't as bad as the last two seasons. Not even necessarily in the win-loss record, but just passing the eyeball test.
But maybe they are? I mean wasn't that your assumption when Jones arrived?

We currently have 4 losing streaks going...

10 in a row to Florida
8 in a row to Bama
5 in a row to Georgia
3 in a row to Missouri

We're 0-26 vs those 4 teams. Damn.

I say we lose to Florida, beat Georgia, and, here comes a stretch.....beat either Bama or Mizzou. We end 2 of the 4 streaks in 2015 imo.

Well butch Jones is 0 n 8 against that bunch. So 30% of those losses belongs to this group n he is worth 3m ..

Not bashing but those r the teams you're hired to beat n he has zero wins against them..

Both stats stinks n has to change in 2015..
