Which program has fallen the furthest from its peak?

Until Tennessee or FSU loses to a 1-AA team, it's Michigan.

Tough one, but I will have to say Fl St. Michigan can still win the Big Ten, I doubt they will but they still have a shot. Fl St looks really bad and won't get any better until Bowden is gone. Fulmer will get his guys fired up but I think his fuse has burned out and the pyrotechnics are about to blow.

it wasn't on your list, but Notre Dame has hit rock bottom and kept right on going.

its tough to say.
i mean teh inability to get a 3rd and 1 on a couple of ocassions speaks bad for tennessee. michigan may stink, but they may also still be in the big 10 chase - not to mention they have won some championships over the last few years.
florida state is pretty bad as well. but it will be interestingto see how they fare in the heart of the conference schedule vs. how tennessee fares in the sec.

i agree. i have to say florida state. for most of the 1990s, florida state had one of the most explosive offenses and one of the fastest, most potent, and hardest-hitting defenses season after season after season. the florida/florida state game had national title implications season after season after season. people just don't fear florida state like they used to. there used to be a real mystique about them that intimidated opponents. that has totally vanished. tennessee and michigan have never really had that.

michigan losing to appy state was a loss of historic proportions, but it then again it was just one game.

i guess i could've had them on there, but i just picked those teams to have three national powers from the late 90s that have fallen from grace.

TN is a fringe top 25 program, just like they have been for 7 years. Some years they decent other years they're unranked. Thus, a fringe top 25 team.

I'm still SHOCKED that everyone is SHOCKED when we lose these games. We've been losing them JUST THIS WAY for quite a while. This is nothing new.

Michigan had 2 bad games....the past few years they have been pretty good. I would say UT and FSU are tied. It has been 5+ years since either one has come close to have the type of season most fans got used to.

mich. 1-2 with the one being against an 0-3 ND team isn't that great.

while i'm disgusted with what we've done so far, we've lost to top 10 teams on the road.

a far cry from Mich.

if you look at um last year they were undefeated going into osu. fl. st. yeah they are really down. and we all know we have hit rock bottom and are still falling so i would say us.

true, tennessee hasn't had a 2006 michigan season since 2001. then again, tennessee laid an egg against an inferior team in the 2001 sec title game. at least michigan played a team that was better than them tough in their opportunity to get to the big game.

Hasn't MICH played in a BCS bowl 3 of the last 4 years?

Tennessee hasn't played in a BCS Bowl game this ENTIRE DECADE!

Moreover, Fulmer has only won ONE BCS Bowl game in his entire career.

the tying irish.

they have the most NCs of any program at what, 14? but none since '88.

how many straight bowl losses?

a $3mil/year coach and they are 0-3.

i'm feeling a little better. but not much.

At least ND lost BCS bowl games...while we're usually losing by 30 points to Maryland in the Peach (of a season) Bowl.

I say we are tied with FSU. The new century has not been kind to either of us. 98 seems like a lifetime ago.

osamabinbama claims 12. but that is kind of like TN claiming 6 but only 2 are NCAA NCs.

osamabinbama does have the most bowl game appearances of any team.

i believe that ND has the most NCAA NCs at 14 or so. OK has 8, i think. bama is at 6 iirc.

at some point i'll count 'em again. it'll keep my mind off of what the vols are doing this season.

I was just recently proven wrong on this by a Bammer friend. UT has 2 NCAA recognized NC and 4 unrecognized. Bama has 12 NCAA recognized NC and 5 unrecognized NC. I don't have the link anymore, but it is on the NCAA website. I will try to find it.
