Enough good could not be said about the the Vols with the game on the line. Who were the two players who stopped Marshall? Brilliant defense, though porous at times.

I know Darrell Taylor was the main guy.

Taylor stopped Marshall and credit to Abernathy bc had that ball somehow been a pitch, he made one hell of a tackle to keep the guy out of the zone.

That's possibly the most massive understatement I've heard and you put emphasis on it. That guy was a load for anyone much less a 189 lb man

One of the best hits of the game, period. Very impressive

I watched the game last night; and I kept saying the defense should be up on the ball instead of 1.5yards off of the ball.. The other thought was if the qb is going to run the ball you have to make him pay with physical hits each time. As a runner you have the right to treat him as a runner! Every potential receiver must be played as the player that going to receive a pass. Thus pass coverage has to be man to man!

I just watched the replay. It was all Taylor. He beat the Tackle then beat the left guard that pulled across then knocked the crap out of the QB. You could tell that Marshall was completely caught off guard because he put his foot in the ground and committed to turning it upfield assuming the guard was going to plow the road. Instead he got a facemask to the ribs and it was over.

Seeing it live last night, I didn't realize just how close that was to being a lateral. It was caught maybe a 6" ahead of where the QB released it. Just enough to be obvious.

I saw Taylor end the game. If I get to meet him, I'll shake his hand.

Again, it is a team sport. THE TEAM pulled it together and won the game. Chemistry counts. This team has it as demonstrated last night. Gonna be a fun season.

One of the few times we forced to issue.

Yes even if a ruled a pitch, the guy was tackled with his back to the goal line which prevented him from scoring by extending the ball before he hit the ground.

The defense had the play covered very well.

Hit on QB was initiated by Taylor and supported by Jumper.

Great play by 19 and 22, but it was not covered well. GT just did not execute. If Marshall pitches to his wing back, TN had no one to cover him. Marshall did not expect 19 in there and was greedy.

There were 3 offensive linemen in the endzone as well. If the pass was complete, should have been an ineligible downfield penalty. I am fairly positive it would not have been called though

Qb threw it over hand so it was a pass. If benson had caught it and eked in it would've counted.

A lateral can be thrown overhand and a forward (think shovel) pass can be thrown underhand. The only thing that matters is which endzone the ball travels toward while in the air.

The reason for the lack of execution on the part of the offense was because of perfection of execution on the part of the defense.

Taylor defeated both blockers with both technique and athletic ability. Abernathy tackled the would be receiver with near perfect form tackle.

Why denigrate this staff and these players on a play that took guts and execution of defensive techniques to stop when they actually did stop it, with the game on the line.

Some people....:loco:
