Which players hit the road/Pruitt shows them the door?

I haven’t posted on here in a while, but just my 2 cents.... at this point, Pruitt and his staff will make the necessary changes. Fulmer will most likely throw his 2 cents in if Pruitt asks his opinion on the matter. Bottom line, this team is really not that good. The players are weak and undersized, then add the fact that a lot of them are not SEC caliber players....and you’ve got yourself a big ball of suck. Yeah, some of them may have quit or didn’t “give their all for Tennessee”. I guarantee you the coaches know exactly who these players are and they will leave. I’m sure there will be some one on one chats with them behind closed doors and that will be the end of it. New recruits will be here next year and a new OC...hopefully good things are coming....at some point. It’s all water under the bridge at this point.
Well stated, you should post more often.

Is this thread copied verbatim from the day after Spring Camp when Pruitt was guaranteed to do massive house cleaning of dead wood players?

If need be, cut out the cancer and deal with it best we can until we can get more players. Everyone has to be onboard to make this progress toward being a better team and program. Operate, STAT!!!!

Even if he wanted to then, it would have been difficult. He at least needed the warm bodies for the practice squad. He has a little more leeway now with a new group of athletes that he was completely involved in signing this year. The deadwood will start too fall. (I really hate that I even have to consider any of the players as "deadwood")

we will be startled at some of the names that leave this off season. we don't know as much as we think we know. so when we see some guys leaving please don't start the sky if falling crap. lot of guys need to go and it's not just guys who under performed on the field.

Im so serious..Brandon was no cancer to this team..Physically they was looking for something else..When I post I tell facts..Toxic and Cancer has been going around alot lately and now people saying Brandon was toxic..I think its unfair..I think its a an excuse for Pruitt for having a losing season..Now he bout to purge this roster and now basically get ready for a few rebuilding years..

Greazy Brandon didn’t play this year because every time he came in he dropped a pass and shyed away from contact on 3rd downs. Brandon was supposed to be a possession receiver and that wasn’t the case this year. He struggled. That doesn’t make him a cancer.

Don’t CJP was talking about Brandon when the team met and talked about getting rid of those that didn’t want to be there.

I hope that door is not a swinging door, it will probably swing back and push him over. Let's hope JG is it behind him

Hypothetically speaking, JG could run over the entire offensive line with a mack truck and no jury in Tennessee would convict him. They would call it revenge...

I think Callaway would get drafted , but much lower than he could if he had a break out / show case year. Jennings is too close to his 'trouble' and too slow to get drafted at this point. Returning and showing his leadership skills and increasing his speed could make him a lot of money
Rember that there is a new spring league for layers tired of school and ready forsome &$$. Not NFL $$$ but still $$$$

So who do you think quit?

I don't know. Im going to guess some of them come from the same group I was told that was having issues back in the spring. Could be some more that have mailed it in over the season. Who is really irrelevant. Pruitt sees it. Some of the players confirmed it. As long as their days are number at UT I really don't care. The program is broken and its not going to be fixed with those as a part of it.

What that has to do with the absurdity that Vandy's roster is 25 points better than UT's I have no clue.

I get it. I know these guys are young and impatient and many from modest backgrounds ...but I would advise that if they are not in the big money , to keep playing college until they get in the big money. If they never get there , then take you shot as a 4th string , scout team guy

So who do you think quit?

For us fans, being on the outside looking in, we cant know for sure who quit. However; the players on the team know who quit or not. We are not at team meetings or at practices. We will be able to know soon enough though.
Some players will never see the field, even if they remain another two seasons. they just aren't SEC caliber players and Pruitt will ask them to leave. M. North was injury prone and seldom saw the field, so he was asked to leave the program. i could probably look at our current roster and see players names that I don't ever recall getting playing time.

Spurrier's first season at USC, he cleaned house. His entered his first season at USC without a full roster but he got rid of the lazy, untalented ones immediately.

Disparage?

Sources have said a ton of players straight quit because they knew they wouldn't be back. That is why we had such a poor effort the last couple of games.
A scholarship could be legal binding in a way like a contract. You would have to be able to prove breach if that's the case. I'm not sure of the legalities. I'm guessing you are inferring that these players knew they were gonna "quit" then. I don't think a coach can just yank a scholly away from a player legally.
Edit: my bad...didn't realize it was renewed on a yearly basis. I stand corrected. I feel Pruitt will help them find a place to continue their education and possibly play some ball.

They are year to year. They can be to to leave. It happens all he time.

From what they said on Ainge's show it was a combination of those who knew they would be asked not to return and those quitting because they didn't buy in. Both groups gave crap efforts the last couple of weeks.

He didn't have enough players to clean house in the spring, things are different now. If he had cleaned house in spring, we might not have been able to have a good practice or scrimmage. GBO

Well, this guy did say there was enough talent on the team that if pruitt only won five games, he needed to be fired. So now his only retort is to say players quit. Im quite certain we can find clips of all those players giving max effort. Remember during the vandy game someone tried to call out warrior for being slow right after he took a hit where I dont see how he stayed in the game? This is the type of stuff you get when criticism of a coach isnt allowed.
If what you are saying is true then it will turn on UT like a moccasin. Pruitt deserves quite a bit of criticism, IMO. He expecteded too much too fast. You can't change from a base 4-3 to a 3-4 in one year with an all-american at each position effectively. UT doesn't have that calibre of athletes nor do hardly any teams in America. It's different when coming here as a freshman commit and the 3-4 is what you see 1st. I'm sure some are gone and are glad about it because of coach Pruitt. He's not gonna have that excuse in year 4. I do think what he says is true about the athletic ability of UT players as a team not as individuals. I think Will Friend is clueless and will never develop an offensive front much less be given the reins to run the entire offense at UT. This is totally insane and proves that Pruitt isn't ready to be a HC in any div. of college football. I say he best tread lightly but he may not care and is already setting his sights on Bama.
I've had nothing but respect for the guy since he got here but there's a proper way to go about doing things without humiliating another human who may be trying. If CPF allows the promotion of Friend to OC, kiss this rebuild good-bye under this staff.

Surprised by warrior being on the list also. I believe there is enough blame to go around, players and coaches to start with.
only one idiot posted warriors name. Try and read the entire thread before assuming. I do hope warrior, A.Taylor, B.Thompson, Flowers, JJ Richardson,Bituli, Ignont, S.Reid,D.Taylor,Emerson,M.Butler,D.Johnson, J.Carvin,J.Johnson, J.JenningsJ.Murphy,T.Jordan, T.Chandler,J.Banks,C.Tillman,B.Kennedy, M.Tatum, and on all bolt from UT in a display of unity. Ain't none of you couch-tater,monday morning QB's, got any damn sense to go around passing out judgement and naming names.

Yeah, Byrd provided the lead block on a CFA touchdown and he's one of the fastest players on the whole team along with Alontae Taylor.
We got rid of one who was responsible for not getting the ball to Byrd in Helton. Now we need to get JG a new home. He'll have 2 years left after sitting out another year. Or do you think Friend will get the promotion to OC which means we're stuck with JG another year or two? But don't we want wins also? A slow QB is one thing but to compound it with an OC that can't fiqure out what a rolling pocket is is a different matter. Hard to see the forest for the trees I guess.
