If you were a fan, booster, or decision maker at the University of Minnesota, who would you rather see named as your next head football coach--Phil Fulmer, Lane Kiffin, or Derek Dooley?

Credit to the guys at 104.5 for the original thought, which they managed to fit in between discussions about Favre's wife, 40 yard dashes, and hotdog eating contests.

Ugh, probably Kiffin. No one ever talks about Minnesota, and he could fix that. Dooley's southern style wouldn't play as well up there. Fulmer may be able to get them up to 8 or so wins which Minnesota fans would probably accept at first - but after a while they'd get sick of that.

Dooley because he has alot more upside. Think with the right people he will win games and keep us out of trouble. Kiffin will get you on probation, Fulmer well i will just leave that alone.

Fulmer- Older, no way has fire of mid/late 90's....without cutcliff and chavis, 0% chance. (with them still is #2 on the list). His "pro" is resume, stability, experience.

Kiffin- dead last on this list. I don't want to sell my soul/program to the devil for short term sucess. Inevitably followed by bad things that could last much longer than the success. Kiffin and Co. "pro" is recruiting. I just want no part of this group of men.

Dooley- Presumably learned some positive things from a great coach in Saban, was recruiting co-ordinator for monster classes, and owns a BCS championship ring. He would have energy (knocks out Fulmer) and as far as we know, he and his entire staff run a clean ship (knocks out Kiffin). I feel like his staff can match recruiting of either coaches. Dooley brings recruiting, energy, vision, and organization. He also seems to have the most potential and ability to work through forseen tough times.

If I'm AD of Minnesota, and we'll assume I'm an alum or someone who loves the University, and my job is on the line over the next 4 years.....

The next head coach of the University of Minnesota is Derek Dooley.

Dooley. Guy has class and I believe has a great master plan. Time will tell.

If anyone could lie, cheat, cajole anyone to come up and play in Minnesota it would be Kiffin and company. Those guys could sell a 4-1-9 to a Nigerian.

Kiffin might be the best for a program like Minnesota, but if I was the AD no way I would hire him. Dooley.

I would choose Kiffin, just because he had the all-star coaching staff around him and he was a helluva recruiter. I hated his loud mouth, which embarrassed the university, but he also brought swagger and excitement to the team and Big Orange nation.

Dooley would be my second choice.

Kiffin, because you know he could recruit there.

I'd say there are other things much more embarrassing for the university than Kiffin's mouth. Fans of other SEC teams talked about him like he was the most embarrassing thing to ever happen to an SEC team, which is ridiculous. I could probably find 10 things more embarrassing for the conference the past decade alone.

It should be Kiffin, Fulmer, Dooley... in that order, but Kiffin is the only guy outside their reach.

Mike Price would agree with this.

I was about to bash the choice of Dooley here but he may make a good fit there. I would say Minnesota and LA Tech are about on the same level.

As much as I hate say it, stupid...oops, Kiffin. Not because he is a good coach or person. It's because Kiffin would drawn attention to a program that has none. That big mouth that needs to be stapled shut is the whole reason to hire him. I bet Monte would not follow him there though.

Uhhh Kiffin is eliminated. His wife hated it here for cold weather. Imagine in the 15 degree below zero weather of Minnesota. Lane would look for another job quicker than the 14 months he stayed here. Fulmers heyday was when his recruiting was relentlus. i have a hard time believing he could get it back. Dooley cant count but hey as bad and slow as big 10 defenses are you probably only need 10 men on the field. So in a squeeker I say Dooley.
