This was a huge topic of conversation last summer before the start of camp. I'm surprised there hasn't been as much talk this year.

EDIT: I'll change my prediction from Callaway to Kongbo. Dude looks like a freak show.

I think he dominates right off the bat.

If you base it off of hype and expectations it has to be Kongbo. If it comes down to those who enrolled early it's anyone's guess IMO.

Just a couple of reminders about the black stripe:

1) the right to have your black stripe removed is now determined by the other players at your position, and
2) you have to earn it in the classroom, the film room, and in workouts as well as on the field.

The stripe is removed when you've proven to your position-mates that you can be counted on the same as anyone else in the locker room.

Can they even put Kongbo and Paul Bain in the same room? I have a feeling it would explode from the sheer awesomeness it would contain.

I'll go with Osborne.
This is probably a smart bet since Osborne has been through college practices before and has had much more time to acclimate than other guys who might be more highly regarded.

I expect Osborne to at least be one of the first 3 to lose the stripe.

It won't be Warrior. Theres going to be a learning adjustment for him.

Osbourne probably. He was already pushing Malik at Nickel in the spring.

Tyler Byrd is the 2nd if so.

Look for the freshman with the greatest maturity and devotion to the team and university, not the one with the most athletic ability. As BruisedOrange says in post #14, the black stripe is a Whole Effort thing, not a ballin' out thing.

This, of course, makes it practically impossible to predict for those of us not in the middle of the team's day-to-day lives.

Go Vols!
