Which newcomer are you most excited to see?

^ This. I'm interested to see how a change in coaching style and philosophy affects the trajectory this year...in a way, all the players are kinda 'new' (or at least the ones who really buy in to the changes).

If I had to pick one player, it would be Peterson. An already-solid defensive player arriving into a situation where the HC's bread and butter is defense could be a great thing.

Why do the same schools finish in the top ten year in year out.Answer: they have coaches prospects want to play for. CJP and Co. have a reputation to build.

Gooden. I think he is going to be a force.

I do too! I don't know if they are playing him at DE or NG, but I'm betting he plays a lot wherever it's at. He's got the size to play in the middle. Could see him playing both, just to get him on the field. Will be curious to see how they use them. Also how they get Bituli, Kirkland and Sapp all on the field at the same time. Bituli should start over Kirkland but curious how they use each one. Plus Peterson and Ignont.

I think if Chryst wins the starting job, then JG will transfer. I think after him watching QD do it, he won't think very long before he does. But as long as whomever wins the starting job does so by out playing the others then I'm good with the decision. Gonna be interesting. And I really like Banks, after Fitz gets through with him this summer, he could be really powerful.

He is a big boy. With him being completely healthy I don't see him being beat out this year as a starter.

I think JG and Shrout might have to sit on the sidelines this year.

I'm thinking the same. JG turning into a good QB benefits us beyond this season, but I trust Chryst more at this point. Shrout is gonna be a stud, but definitely needs to RS.

I can definitely see that as a possibility. It could put us in a potentially dangerous QB situation next yr, but if Chryst is the better QB he will start. JP won't start a guy just because he might leave, unlike our previous HC.

Jeremy Banks is an absolute stud. Played against him in high school a few times, and I played Defensive Back. He’s a big powerful running, but don’t underestimate his speed and athleticism. Excited to see what he can do after a little training with Coach Fitz. We should get a good duo from him and Ty Chandler

Did you have the joy of having to tackle him?

Chryst is the most intriguing newcomer, hands down. Banks is the most exciting. Brandon Kennedy will be the most needed. Peterson is going to need time to learn a very hard position, so expectations need to be tempered for him. Same for Shrout, but will be interesting to see his throwing skills on display.

Honestly, all of them. And I'm ex cited to see what this new staff does with the "old" guys. It's been a long time since I've been this amped for the upcoming season. And I'm not expecting more than 7 wins.

Yeah I'm more interested about how our LB rotation will be.... Especially with the addition of Kongbo and the retention of Darrin.....

Is he in the Bo Scarbrough look alike competition?

Tillman and Taylor as well. Need a WR that scares a defense.... at least a little bit.

Interested to see which newcomer Vol you all are most excited to see.

Mine is Jeremy Banks. At 6’2 - 215 (Before D1 S&C program), his explosiveness in his highlights is VERY impressive. I think he will be a very great addition to the RB group and will shock some people by how much playing time he gets this season as a freshman.

Jeremy Pruitt

Alontae Taylor was a close 2nd for me as well. I can’t wait to see his raw athleticism, combined with Pruitt’s coaching and Fitz’s S&C program. I have a feeling he will be special for UT.

wood anderson, peterson, taylor.

but really, it's going to be the sum of the parts.

i'm pretty sure we'll have a couple guys stand out before season's end, maybe even some guys that are already here *cough kyle phillips *cough Jarret Guarantano.....

but given all the "new" we're gonna have everywhere, i'm more interested in seeing how this team plays together. i know, candy azz answer.

No, I totally agree with how much “new” is on the team. I am very excited to see how they mesh and play together as a TEAM. Not saying we are going to be world beaters this season, but it is still very exciting to see what will be coming in the future.

yep. on the individual front, if you're talking who might flash this year, agreed.

and those three i put at the top are the three i'm wanting to see. i think they'll all give you reason to say "yeah, we're gonnna be ok". another couple that fit that bill are Emerson and Carvin.

felt the same way about Shamburger at times last year. there were moments in games where i though he looked like the best guy on the field. and others, not so much.

i expect the same for some of the newcomers this year.

We need help everywhere. I’m hoping the new punter is all SEC. I hope there is help for both lines. And I hope/ top priority that we can find a couple shut down corners.

I'm hoping we never have to find out how good the new punter is!

Wouldn't it be awesome if that lad, excellent though he may be, didn't even see action until the 5th game of the season?

One can dream. :good!:

this is what I think--

lots of quarterbacks can step up and do a good job.

Think back a few years to Texas Tech and Mike Leach teams.

Year after he had a QB step up and be all conference.

The reason his QB's enjoyed so much success was that his receivers could catch the ball.

The success of our QB rests in the guy who is coaching the receivers and I think we have a good one.

How good did he make Riley Ferguson look last year?

It's a lot easier to throw than it is to catch!

We need great receivers!

I honestly can't think of that one recruit that just stands head and shoulders above the rest. If you asked me last year, without hesitation I wouldve said Trey Smith. A few years prior it wouldve been Jalen Hurd or Derek Barnett. This years class doesn't have that player for me. It seems like a class full of solid players but not that one "crown jewel" player.
