Any reason his bio is still up on utsports? As other people have said , they removed Wilcox and Sirmon as soon as it happend.

I'm sure whoever is hired by CDD will be fine, Davis or otherwise, but can't we find any former Vols? Alabama may be on a roll but I'm sure there are plenty of qualified Tennessee men out there. Just saying.

He is at Texas. He played at LSU. He coached at several places. I do agree with hiring a Tennessee guy , but just because he use to coach at Bama doesn't mean much to me. Dooley was on the staff with this guy at Miami. Same deal with Sal. He was with him at LSU. These are coaches he is familiar with no matter where they use to coach. It only makes sense to contact them.

Name some that are from Tennessee and that are coaching or is a good recruiter. If he is from Alabama and has coaching ties and is a good recruiter. And gets us back to the top. I could care less.

like Hiestand, pursuing other options

Thanks for clearing that up. I posted in another thread where they didn't make his contract public ...

"The school has yet to provide defensive line coach Lance Thompson's contract." Andrew Gribble 12-13-11

and was wondering if that had something to do with it. I guess since they didn't extend his contract they were basically encouraging or forcing these coaches to look around?

Good point, I didn't notice that was an old Bio. I just feel like everything else being equal I would prefer a coach with Tennessee ties over someone else when possible. At least part of what makes Jay Graham a great hire is that he is a Tennessee guy, not just a hired gun. I agree that we need chemistry/continunity within the coaching staff to make it work, so if that means hiring someone CDD is comfortable with even if from Bama then thats what we need to do. I'm just tired of the appearance of having to go to the Bama well for help. Like the University of Tennessee needs Bama to be successful.

Tracy Hayworth and Marion Hobby were both mentioned in another thread. Both are currently coaching and I'm sure there are others. I really liked the fire that Chuck Smith brought to the table. He and Wilcox just didn't get along so he was forced to go. But anybody that can bring it like he did and still does is ok with me. He coaches a lot of current NFL D-lineman now. I don't care where they come from necessarily as long as they get the job done but I would like to see a Tennesse guy if possible. I dont know how old you are but I grew up during the last streak and I hate anything to do with Bama. I respect their program but I hate them also. Buckfama was my actual license plate for several years until the Dept of Motor Vehicles finally caught on and cancelled my renewal.:censored:

Dunbar and Davis are the two that I see with a direct connection to both Sunseri and Dooley. Either would be nice.

that could have been a strategy they had but I'm not aware of that

It's Lovie Smith. Book it. His plane just landed in Morristown. He's eating at Hillbilly's Cabin and then heading to tour campus.
