Where would we be with Leach?

You really think so, or just hate Leach?

I don't even know anymore. I'm mad at myself because I believed in Pruitt and I bought in to what he was selling and then today happened

Just stop already with the Cult of Leach. The man is certifiable. Pruitt at least can recruit so at least maybe the next coach will have something to work with

Probably would have had a win if they had hired the Memphis head coach........but I didn’t want that at the time either.

Was hoping for an actual “program” changer. But I’ll admit I would take being simply decent right now.

Scoring more points and giving up more points.

JG would actually make a great Air Raid QB. He'd fit into Leach's system very well. The O-line would still be an issue, but we wouldn't be banging our heads against the wall trying to run for 3.0 yards per carry. (And that's the 2nd biggest reason we lost behind "not being able to stop GA State's run).

Defense would be in even worse shape than it is right now. I think Leach could get a top-notch DC, but it would still take a few years to rebuild the roster. Frankly, a lot of the problems we saw out there are the result of Butch's terrible recruiting for the D-line in his last few years. After Kyle Phillips and Shy Tuttle graduated, we just had a big dropoff. Our guys were gassed the entire 2nd half.

That said, I think Leach wins this particular game with some crazy score like 59-45.

As much as everyone wants to hate on Pruitt, and perhaps rightfully so, I still think it's too early to tell. So many true Freshman were out on the field in key positions. We saw Wanya Morris make some major mistakes. He's an elite 5-star talent, but there's a reason you don't see Bama playing many true Freshman at O-line. I'll be more worried if I don't see progress as the season goes along. And ultimately, this loss is not really any worse than Saban's Louisiana-Monroe loss back in 2007; another middling Sun Belt team.

But if Pruitt continues to lose more games like this, then that's a different story. Most great coaches have dropped an embarrassing game or two at some point. But most of them don't accumulate a bunch of those losses.

I don’t hate Leach. I also think he is a fine coach. At the time I just thought if they were “willing” to pay top 3-5 money they could get Patterson or Petersen.

Now I would be willing to take the feeling coach Arkansas got.

Isn't that the bulls**t everyone was saying about Butch too?

We need a coach. A damn coach. Someone who can take players have them prepared for a game, and develop them over the course of 3-5 years.

I'm so ******* sick of this recruiting argument. We've been top 15 every year in recruiting and for what? No development, no improvement, not a damn thing. If you win, players will come.

I love the "he's not cut out for the SEC" BS. How do you know? He took a terrible Big 12 team and had them competing for conference titles. He's taking a terrible PAC 12 team and has them winning 10 games a year. Imagine a guy like that with the recruiting resources we have here.

Yeah, maybe we lose to Bama and Georgia under him a whole lot more than we beat them. Beats the hell out of anything we've had here in nearly 2 decades.

Leach's unranked QB Gordon is currently 24/26 with 4 TDs, 344 yards, and 13 YPA against New Mexico State in the 3rd quarter.

Which is exactly how a competent coach expects his QB to play against inferior competition.

“In Leach's two seasons at Kentucky, the Wildcats set six NCAA records, 41 SEC records and 116 Kentucky records”

His offense has already worked in the SEC under Hal Mumme. Tennessee still recruits itself (somehow). So to use that as a basis is dumb.

I sure damn guarantee he wouldn’t have lost that game to Georgia State today. I’m not ready to fold on Pruitt yet but coaches are paid to win games not recruiting accolades.

Dooley/Jones/Pruitt < Leach.

Even if the records were identical it would have been a helluva lot more fun to watch.
