I’m on a two year assignment in OKC and we are really enjoying it. Quality of life is much higher, but staying here permanently would result in a pay cut and have retirement implications.

Other options we are considering are South suburbs of Atlanta. Bit of a pay raise but back to the grind.

Suburbs of north Houston. Big pay raise, but housing is reasonable comparatively.

Fort Worth. Moderate pay raise but like the other options I’ll be back to working all the time.

Longmont, CO. We really loved our Colorado trip in October. Winters there worry me as I hate cold weather. Maybe I’d just embrace it with access to winter activities.
How many years(i.e. winters) would you have to be there?

Denver winter temps are more mild than one might think. It will get snow, but it melts quickly. The front range snowstorms can be crazy and dump a bunch of snow, but the usual storms coming from the west don’t do much in Denver.

Colorado is the only one of those I would choose to live.
The best wines from California and Washington, boutique spirits, microbrews, Spring lamb that can’t be beat, dry air, eclectic musical tastes, and a vibrant food scene. There’s always live music somewhere, various festivals, and summer theater under the stars. Yes, housing may be expensive (water may be expensive), but Colorado has much to offer (especially when you can’t smell the Monfort stock yards).

Cretins… Wines that aren’t shipped across the lower 48 are shipped to Colorado.

Of that list I picked Fort Worth over Denver. The others you couldn't pay me to live there!
