This is the expectation for this team.

Does it mean if they fail to reach it Butch should be fired, no!

Mike Griffith said it best on his chat when he said that in order for this to truly be a successful season, it's an SEC Championship. With this blend of returning talent, leadership and experience, it's hard to argue with that statement. Inb4 "Mike Griffith is a traitor, Mike Griffith is desperate for clicks, Mike Griffith is clueless, etc."

I would be interested to know how accurate those predictions from Athlon and others actually are when all is said and done from year to year.

I believe Athlon had us picked 2nd in the East preseason last year. I don't really keep up with Lindy's and certainly not Fox Sports.

Atlanta or bust. That's my opinion. Can't lose to Florida or UGA. The rest will take care of itself.

Exactly.

A successful season = An SEC championship

Not a berth in the game. That is this team's FLOOR. But a win in the game is the only way 2016 can be considered a success.

Why do you continually say stuff like this? This is only true to date, four years into Jones' UT tenure. You nor anyone else has any idea what things will look like 2,3,4 years from now.

People said the same thing in 1997, Peyton Manning's senior year......a year later we won the National title.

I've been on board with Butch since shortly after he was hired. I think he is a good coach and good guy. And I don't want to see more instability at UT. We really need to have long-tenured coaching here to keep the program stable.

But after a few head-scratching moments last year, if Butch can't break through this year he needs to be feeling the pressure. The window for excuses and continued recruiting momentum is closing.

He needs to feel the pressure.

The hype is real and the struggle is over. The prize is right there for the taking. I do believe Team 120 has everything to win not only the SEC but a National Championship. However, Jones will need to grow a pair in big games and not play so conservative. Example: Oklahoma 1yd line. Nonetheless, I do believe also that coaches can learn from their own mistakes and I think Jones has and will prevail this season. The SEC is a different animal and I think Jones has realized that with the hiring of Shoop and our new S&C coach. Get your popcorn ready 2016 will be a dandy!

That's a #1 rating for the Vols for each word in "we gone whup all dey fat azz". Seven #1s. That's gotta be like prophetic or something. :crazy:

I don't think it's Atlanta or bust. I do think that with winning... more of those three Star players will become 4 and 5 stars.so people can stop complaining ! florida and Georgia may never be this down again but I believe that we can reach a level above them year in and year out. Hard to believe we can have more talent than what team 120 has .... I know. Enjoy the ride!

I wonder how many times all seven polls picked the same team to win the division. Says a lot about the team Butch Jones has put together. No more excuses. I think if UT beats Florida they go 11-1. Lose to UF again and its gonna be near impossible to win the East.

Depends on what the West winner does. If UT goes 11-1 and loses to an 11-1 West team who plays for the NC, I will not consider the season a bust. If UT stumbles in and gets hammered, then I will complain. This should be a really really good team.
