There was a thread here right after the Super Bowl about whether all the positive press for Peyton would help recruiting. There were several posters who stated that in a large part of the U.S., people still don't know where he went to college.

Think they know now???? If they are sports fans, they do! Will it help recruiting? I don't know, but it sure won't hurt. :good!: :good!: :good!:

You know, when Dick Vitale said there was no way that anybody could not like Peyton, I thought, "he obviously never reads the Nation" :whistling:

i still don't know how many West Coasters watched this. How many UCLA games have ya'll watched?

that being said. Everyone knows i'm not a peyton fan, but between his attendance and interview, pat's umm, attempt at singing, and phil in the house for the game showed so much for the program. the ATHLETIC program. it helps men's bball, women's bball, football, baseball, and anything else because all that hoopla you hear coaches say we're family here. come be a part of our family. people now know that UT really is family. I'm truly proud to a tennessean. even if i'm stuck in virginia

Except for the fact that this was the only game on tonight and it featured the #4 team. Believe me, TONS of people watched this game.

I got four text messages tonight from friends around the country who are NOT Vol fans, yet happened to be watching the game. Watching such a highly ranked team get drilled seems to have a pretty universal appeal; when a game like that is on at a bar, people gravitate towards it.

It's why I and so many other people love and respect P.M. There just aren't that many guys who just won a s.b. that would bring current teammates back to the school they went to, actually cheer for the team and speak to the guys before the game. Anyone who can't see why he is so loved here just doesn't get it IMO.

Well said, I live in Jacksonville, FL (Go Jags) and the people here really hate him. I got a text from a sorry Gator Fan last night that said Peyton was now 1-4 against FU. I said that's OK cause I have never seen Warfuel at a game. Maybe Chris Leak will come back or Grose Man :eek:lol:

:lolabove: Great points also I don't ever remember seeing Emmitt smith sitting at a UF game!!

It wouldn't shock me though if Reche Caldwell watches all of UF's games no matter where he is:drool:

how can you not be a peyton fan?

if you've not read my past posts, most of the reasons i have for not liking him he possibly shed this season, particularly during the postseason. most of the things Pearl just brough up about him on PTI. but i'm still sick of people thinking or telling me i have to be a peyton fan because i'm a vols fan.
