in losing to the teams we have lost to?

We could have won several games with better defensive preparation and scheme.

Assume next year Sal earns his money with an average defense. Then next year is not gonna be any better no matter who the coach is, so nothing really matters at this point as far as SEC championships.

The team has not quit and if that stays the same what more can anyone with half a brain ask at this point except why did you hire Sal.
Make a change or wait for us to reload on O and hope Sal has his stuff together by 2014.

I don't think there is any dishonor in losing to the teams we have lost to. However, if you watch the team, you can see how some of them could have been closer, and maybe have won one of them. So, for me, the dissatisfaction is seeing a team that simply can never capitalize on positive situations in the tough games. QB play and WR play has been very bad in those games, along with some questionable play calling.
Now it could change for the remainder of the season, but I wouldn't bet on it.

There is no honor in getting curb stomped the past 3 seasons, i'm done with DD. The more fans enable and enabler the worse it will get.

If all the rumors are true, then we'll have a new DC next year anyway.

those Haslams they care about beating Alabama I guess...

why not just fire the guy after MSU?

I'm just not buying it...

and I think we beat the cocks

Admirable post 1967vol. Up until the 'bammer debacle, this team was basically 6-7 plays away from being undefeated. I really think this is the reason so many fans are upset. We were so close and couldn't pull it through. Hell, I'm upset. But the last thing I'm going to do is call the season quits, or blame it on Dooley, or blame it on the players. It's a combination of many things. To go one step further, as whiney and *****y as this fan base is, let's just call it kismet.

New coach next year you hope?

So you know next is gonna be at least as bad as this year, right? Have you seen the schedule?

Is this really the year for a new coach?

Can we afford for it not to be?

Odds are next year has at least 4-5 losses and 2014 will be much easier. So why not let the new coach start off winning and build momentum with fans, recruits, espn, everybody?

Make the big splash new coach look good....

that's my strategy

We got stomped by 'bammer. The other losses this team was in it. Much better than the 2011 season. Call me an enabler, sunshine pumper, doolaid drinker, whatever, but this is a better team than last year. The record may not reflect it, but the team is better. One simply cannot discount the improvement. One must also keep in mind that Coach Dooley is working with 7 new assistant coaches.
Our fan base, to put it mildly, wants to take out basically ten years of frustration on Coach Dooley. Granted, he may not be the man for the job, but he is here and done a fine job of stabilizing a ****fire. In my opinion, it's a damn low down and classless bunch of fickle fans that want Dooley fired.

You let fan apathy sit in for that long...and we will have bigger problems than our W/L record.

The problem is that in 3 seasons, he does not have a "signature" win. When your only sec wins are Vandy, Kentucky and Ole Miss, then something is wrong. Besides, the team is getting worse each week. Dooley is a likable guy but just not a likable head coach.

What was your expectation at the beginning of the season? 8-4, 9-3? Just wondering.

Old Koach Kletus doesn't hold back and I respect that and i happen to agree with some of what he said.

Dishonor in losing to the SEC teams we lost to this season...No and HELL NO!!!

THINK realistically without your childish emotions controlling you for once folks.

Not including alaBubba...If we just had 3 to 5 plays in each game go differently we could be just a 1 or maybe a 2 loss team right now but I believe we beat UGA, MSU and probably floriDUHHH too with just 5 plays in that game going differently.

I can easily see where we could be a 1 loss team right now and ranked way up beyond what anyone should have expected for this season.

Our New 3-4 D...I've said since day 1 when CSS was hired that it takes 2 YEARS even in the NFL to get the 3-4 down pat and our D has lost us most of the games and if you think the 3-4 isn't good then look at the number 1 D in the country the last 2 years and it's Bama and Saban...The same Nick Saban that taught CDD and CSS every little thing about the 3-4 D so if you think our coaches don't know about the 3-4 then you're nuts but it DOES take 2 years to get it down perfect.

Now compare the player rosters....All the top SEC teams are STACKED with future NFL players in EVERY recruiting class so they have 40, 50 or more future NFL players on their rosters.

That's how our UT teams used to be stacked too but NOT after Fulmer and laMe destroyed us and UT has had very few guys drafted into the NFL in the last 4 or 5 years and not hardly any 1st round picks except for Berry.

In only his first 2 recruiting classes CDD has now brought us 18 to 20 future NFL players so look closely at our roster and start counting the guys that will probably play in the NFL by the time they graduate.

There's a few JUCO guys that are Juniors and the rest are only Sophs and freshmen with lots to learn still and lots of real game experience to get but by the time they graduate I can easily see 18 to 20 guys playing at UT that will play in the NFL.

Improved roster and real game experience WILL start adding up the Wins and that's how college football works and it doesn't come fast because of the 25 player rtecruiting limit.

CDD promised he would fix our running game and he DID that.

Has Bray and our WR's let us down alot this season and been worse that we expected...yes but that can't all be laid on coaching like most here want to do.

We ARE better and our roster is better and we WERE close to beating every team we lost to except Bama and with 2 more good recruiting classes with more future NFL players in them then Tennessee will be a VERY tough team to beat because we'll then have a D like or close to the D that alaBubba has.

Hate on this coaching staff all you like but in hindsight, which is always 20/20, realistic, mature people will agree with what I just said.

Don't expect many people on here to be realistic or logical because we just don't do that very well around here unfortunately.

The team this year looks like the teams the past 2 years and that is not well coached nor fundamentally sound. There have been 2 improvements this season over the previous 2 and that is the Oline is blocking better (thanks Coach Pittman) and the RB's are running much better (thanks Coach Graham). Everything else looks the same or worse and extending another year to DD is not going to correct all that is wrong with this team. DD has come in and put out a lot of fires and restored stability but has failed to get his teams any better prepared and that is coaching. These kids that come here to play deserve to be better coached if we are to continue our tradition of winning.

Saban, Spurrier, Miles and Dooley all stop in on a 5 star recruit for a home visit.

Saban, Spurrier, Miles and Gruden all stop in on the same 5 star recruit.

Which option gives us the best chance at landing the 5 star recruit?

8 possibly 9 wins and beating at least one team we shouldnt. I figured we wouldnt be winning the SEC..I'm not that big of a homer but I did expect a better season than last. We have a good team but we shouldnt be struggling to put away the akrons and georgia states of the world until the 4th quarter either. The defense is atrocious. Yes it's the first year into a new scheme but still, we should be seeing some improvement but we aren't. Our secondary looks lost almost every play. On offense, we don't try enough to get the ball into our best player's hands. Our kicking game, with the exception of the Bama game has been nonexistent. The team is not playing up to it's potential. That's all on the coaches. I just don't see Dooley beating Carolina this Saturday and I wouldnt be shocked if the team lost one in November either.

No one ever said it was "dohonorable" to lose to those teams...it's more along the lines of "not cool, bro". A football team is meant to win, and the coach leads the way. When you lose and lose and lose, it's not cool, bro...coach is to blame.

Thank you Titan&Volfan. On top of what you just stated - if Coach Dooley is let go - I think he deserves a ticker tape parade for the way he approached this job, the maturity level he brought to UT - and to the way he has handled all of the negativity brought towards him and his team. For all you fickle fair weather so-called fans, be very careful what you wish for. You can bet that any coach, if we need a new coach, is going to look long and hard at how the past few coaches were treated. We were once ThugU. That could easily be replaced by "REDNECKU" or "FAIRWEATHERU".
