Anyone have anything on any Miami football trouble with the law? I know they're "thug U"....but can't seem to find any recent problems. A buddy of mine has been ripping on me for UT's recent fun times with the law...and I need some ammo back at him.

Miami hasn't been too bad lately. They were bad under Coker, but since Shannon took over, it's gotten better. Davis did a good job cleaning things up when he took over.

Randy Shannon has done a tremendous job in that regard at the "U".... I expect they'll be back to their champoinship ways soon. We may very well have to beat them in a NC game soon!

The amazing thing to me in that article is how many of them were not prosecuted. One of the guys was charged with showing a gun during a robbery, and was arrested two more times before he was prosecuted and kicked off the team.

I wouldn't get too smug. UT 4 arrests in less than a year under Kiffin. Tennessee's arrests under Fulmer's reign are well documented.

How do all these florida players get off with nothing after being arrested. Can they get that DA up in Knoxville somehow???

The FSU and the Orlando articles each contains details that the other does not, so put them together. Even then, there is more vital info left out. For example, when starting safety Tony Joiner broke into the impound lot to take out his girlfriend's car, there is no mention that the lot owner is quoted as saying he received multiple death threats, and thus declined to press charges. Bad enough that Crompton is said to have received death threats, but much worse when death threats are allowed to derail criminal justice proceedings. As the article mentions, the felony theft charges were dropped, and Joiner never missed one single game, unlike Janzen Jackson.

I'm not going to try to defend the actions of every Gator player who has run afoul of the law, but there is alot more to the Joiner situation than you are making it out to be.

Joiner had actually talked to the dispatcher who was working early Tuesday morning and had made arrangements to pick up the car. The employee left to get some food and the gate to the company was left open. Joiner showed up to pay the $76 towing bill, waited for some time and got impatient and decided to go ahead and take the car and worry about the bill later.

But another employee noticed the car being removed and called the police. A worker at Watson's Towing told the Gainesville Police not to charge Joiner.

No death threats derailed criminal proceedings- the lot owner said 15 -30 people remove their car from his impound lot every year and he really didn't want Joiner charged. Shortly after Joiner's arrest, Forron (impound lot owner) said the player had arranged to pay the bill and pick up the car. But Forron said no one was around to take Joiner's money, so he must have thought it was OK to take the car and settle up later.

Arrest of Florida safety Joiner may be misunderstanding - USATODAY.com

Additionally, I find it hard to believe you think death threats to the impound lot owner is actually worse than death threats to a college football player because he is wasn't playing well.
