Where is Kevin Sumlin?

Sometimes failure can be a great teacher. Remember Bill Belichek failed his first time as a NFL head coach. Same with Pete Carroll.

Coaches are sometimes like players. A change of scenery can do wonders.

I don't think hiring Kevin Sumlin at another SEC school guarantees failure.

Sumlin did great at Houston !!!!

Let me get this straight... Sumlin knows the SEC, recruits exceptionally well, has beaten Alabama, is available and develops qbs well. He may not have been any of our first choices but he'd be a steal at this point.

he ran off several talented QBs.

at this point I'll take him but some crazy shiz went down at TAMU under him.

If we hire Sumlin, I hope to eat crow, but I highly doubt I will have to develop a taste.

A wise old coach once told me this: If all I do is serve Ice Cream and Cake some people will gripe about how I scoop and cut. Sumlin is a good choice. Is he the perfect choice? Ask that again in a few years. Nobody is going to check all the boxes everyone has.

Those are lateral moves for Tee and Steele and they probably wouldn't do it unless offered enough money. However, I agree if we could get all three I would probably have a heart attack. Plus make Fulmer or Blackburn AD. If these things happen it would be one of the best Christmas presents ever.

Tee might do it, because he doesn't have full control of the play calling at USC. They have a weird system where the receivers coach can call the 3rd down play if he wants to. Tee probably wants out of that.

We can't contact Sumlin yet because we haven't contacted Santa Claus and the 12 dwarfs. After we do that then maybe we will. That is the way this fiasco is going.

You're absolutely correct but he also won 8 games with qbs that have no business other than being clipboard holders in the SEC hence my comment

Kevin Sumlin - H/C - pay Him.
Tee Martin - O/C - lateral move but make it worth is while. $$
Kevin Steele - D/C - lateral move - pay him as well. $$

Get back to winning ASAP...One of these or both would more than likely get H/C jobs else where but that would mean TN would be back on the Football map.... BE nice to have some coaches that major Colleges would want as H/C's....

IMO...if TN could make this happen, we would have hit a GRAND SLAM at this point

Just read that Sumlin is the next target. I'm not really to excited about it, but what other options do u have. Also, just read that Peyton was on board with the hire of Schiano and he was vetted everything came back clean on this guy. Peyton spoke to Bill Belichick and he agreed with the hire and also Shciano had a great staff already in place for this team. This team is going to pay a big price for the actions of a lot of the fans. I understand a lot of u are passionate about this program and I understand, but sometimes u have to let the AD do his job that's why he is getting paid.

#1 Peyton isn’t a very good judge of coaching talent. He was involved in the Butch Jones hiring as well.

#2 It was the boosters. Schiano deal wasn’t going to pass because all the mid to upper level boosters said no way. Quit blaming the fans. It’s lazy.

Has nobody paid attention to the slide Sumlin has had at A&M since Johnny football is no longer there. It has been a downward spiral. I guess if you are looking for 7-9 win seasons take a shot.

Manziel was a college generational player. He brought 100's of millions of dollars to the Aggie program in increased donations. It allowed Sumlin to quickly become the 5 million dollar coach, which also created the 5 million dollar expectation.

In short, Sumlin hit the lotto and unless one of those Johnny football dudes is hanging around someplace like Milan don't expect similar results.

Schiano had personality issues with his NFL players. Why would you go after a DC as your first choice? This is a HC position. This was Jimmy Haslam being Haslam, making a unilateral decision that most of the boosters were totally unaware of. The fact they tried to rush a press conference on Sun tells you everything you need to know.

Yeah, that is why they got stumped the last two years... because he is so much better.... and one of them is when LSU fired their other coach.:eek:lol: The games weren't even close.... like watching a scrimmage. The only other team that is worse is Missouri... same stupid crap.

He doesn't play real football, all you have to do is watch the game.... it might be flag football.

Sumlin is the 2nd best flag football coach in the US, #1 is probably Kelly.:eek:lol:

Dude, LSU lost to Troy this year. Don't come over here trying to be the tallest midget. I know UT sux right now, don't need you tell me about it.

Sumlin or miles either are better than what we’ve offered don’t care for him bringing chavis with him would go after Randy Shannon or Kevin Steele for DC

That's how it works though. Peyton and Tee were back to back generational players. As were Frazier and Frost. The point is, can he recruit? and does he know what to do once he has them. Recruit, develop, watch them roll, shake their hands in the green room at the draft. I think Sumlin can coach.

Keep this in mind also. Saban wasn't that great at Michigan State. Then he went to LSU and got the athletes. Sometimes this is when a coach takes off. It took Osborne 18 years to win a National Title. Coaches start to learn their weaknesses as they get experience.

Generational player?.

Not sure if serious.

Not asking because I dislike Sumlin. But having watched our game against them last year.... why do we think he’s a solid hire? If it wasn’t for our eleventy billion turnovers we win that game.

Enlighten me.
