Sad that our offensive staff placed him in such critical plays early in the season. He wasnt ready for that and it showed. The coaches should have known better.

They gave him his opportunity based on how he practiced. Not sure how that’s on the coaches, especially considering the lack of talent on the roster.

Turns out he wasn’t up for the moment. Several penalties and that ridiculously bad, damn near comical fumble through the end zone after covering 60 yards in approximately 12 seconds. Perhaps he gets bigger and stronger, regroups and can be a better player next year. Doubtful though. I think the 2 big strong freshmen TEs come in next year, leapfrog him quickly, and we only see Pope on special teams going forward.

Pruitt’s waiting until the end of the year to clean house and take a page out of sabans book of taking scholarships from lame players. After the choke job fumble against Florida he must’ve taken his already lol.
Hopefully, Pope will be one to lose his. He is better suited to play at Austin Peay.

This offense has definitely earned the WTH Offense name this year. Someone called that play to get Pope the ball in space knowing full well that he was either too slow or injured/not 100%. DWA was brought in to be a playmaking TE, not a blocker. There must be a good reason that Pope was chosen to make that play over him. I can't guess what it would be, though.

ETA: I say this bc DWA was lined up on the other side to block a rusher, while Pope was in the h-back spot designated as the intended receiver on the play. JG naturally stared him down the whole time before throwing it, which did nothing to throw off the safety who eventually caught Pope. Seems more logical to switch DWA and Pope on that play. Also, Pope, for the love of God and all things holy, tuck the ball before impact or just step out of bounds and take the yards.

Man. Some of you guys get a kick out of blasting a college student. He made a costly football mistake. It’s over. Continuing to bash the kid is childish. Especially when he is an ACTUAL player on the team and 99% of the posters on here had their greatest glory in a pickup game at the Y.
