Why would we rubber stamp everyone? If somebody is suspected to be dangerous, keep them out.

I'm just saying don't block people because of nationality. I'm saying let people in. I'm saying let's stop acting like scared little ******* who suspend liberty to avoid small risks. I'm saying let's stop being scared little ******* and compete in the world economy, which includes an open market for labor.

I get called a coward because I don't want to send our young men to war. Isn't the coward the person who fears another nationality so much that they refuse to even let them in their country?

All I've heard is heavy vetting. You're describing something completely different than intense vetting.

How do you know who is dangerous? When someone shows up at our border from Iraq or Syria, how do you know they are here to make life better for us and them?

I support error on the side of caution and I think that's what Trump is supporting. Until we can figure out who these people are, keep them out.

SANCTIONS AGAINST IRAN
Fourth, the Secretary of Treasury [State] and the Attorney General will invalidate all visas issued to Iranian citizens for future entry into the United States, effective today. We will not reissue visas, nor will we issue new visas, except for compelling and proven humanitarian reasons or where the national interest of our own country requires. This directive will be interpreted very strictly.

You'd think so, but the order forbids that.

I guess they could have all the National Guard/Reserve combat engineer units and reserve Navy Seebee units rotate through on their 2 week training cycles.

Maybe Carlos could send us some pictures of him building Trumps wall? :)

Also 88, the memo leaves a ton of room for OPM to wiggle around. The line that states that jobs deemed "necessary to meet national security or public safety responsibilities are exempt" leaves a lot of room that they can get around. We've done this before and it increased out sourcing which ended up being more expensive. Just saying there is a lot of wiggle room in this memo. It definitely doesn't state that the USG cant contract out building a wall.

Those are most of the jobs I'd want to cut. CIA, NSA, FBI, the entire Homeland Security, ATF, and DEA departments.

Your link is from 12/7/2015. Let's whistle a more recent tune, shall we? As of this week:

U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to sign several executive orders on Wednesday restricting immigration from Syria and six other Middle Eastern or African countries, according to several congressional aides and immigration experts briefed on the matter. In addition to Syria, Trump's orders are expected to temporarily restrict access to the United States for most refugees. Another order will block visas from being issued to Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen, said the aides and experts, who asked not to be identified. Trump's restrictions on refugees are likely to include a multi-month ban on admissions from all countries until the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security can increase the intensity of the vetting process.

Trump to sign temporary immigration ban targeting Muslims, blocking most refugees.

Yep, lets cut jobs in all of the departments that help keep us safe, that'll fix everything that is wrong in this country.

That's why we cut the jobs. When you have too many, they start finding things to do outside of keeping us safe.

I think production contracts for many of our "special toys" are exponentially more of an issue than the Fed Employee budget (cant pretend to be biased though). The amount of money we spend on many of these sole source contracts for weapons we really don't need and are already outdated is mind blowing. Signing a memo to freeze hiring is not even a drop in the bucket as far as our budget.

I 100% support demilitarization

That the Dems already own the "been there, done that" t-shirts on controlling/prohibiting immigration from specific countries.

Stealing the policies of the democrats isn't a road map to success. Ask Detroit

Regardless of whether or not more vetting is needed, we are talking about full and indefinite suspension, are we not? It's not just "he's vetting more". It's "he's suspending all of it."

The link didn't merely say more vetting is needed. It aid that there is a temporary suspension of immigration from certain locations until (so that) they can shore up the vetting process. That's a very large delta from the picture you painted.

For the record, I agree with it. Call me racist, religionist, whatever. They are coming here to blow us up. The bad apples are spoiling it for the good ones. They aren't all bad, but pragmatics probably dictates that we hit the pause button to get a grip on things. If the residents of the target countries take issue, they need to clean their countries up and we will rethink it.
