where in the constitution that says...

And what does the U.S. Constitution say about issues not addressed? Where does it mention the issue of marriage? So who should address and make law on these issues?

According to joevol, if the Constitution doesn't ban it, it's legal.

That sounds like perfectly fine logic to me. So, to answer your question, the federal government, since everything not banned by the Constitution is legal.

i agree, we're too busy murdering our babies so Americans can't adopt here.

This is inaccurate.

Oh, and the last time the "Mexico City" lock was placed on abortion aid, abortion rates rose as did the mortality rates of mothers, according to the WHO.

I've always said if the USA will ban direct flights from certain countries it only makes sense to ban people from those certain countries.

And yes, the USA bans flights from certain countries in the ME/Africa.

I think that every adult in this nation is afforded the same treatment under the Constitution as any other, when in consent with other adults.

Which is to say, whether or not the government presides over it or it is privatized in some weird way, same sex marriage should be legal.

It doesn't particularly make me happy. It doesn't particularly make me feel fond joys of patriotic manliness.

But fair is fair, and I'm a fair man.

we cannot ban foreigners temporarily from coming into America. if they are not citizen, then how are we abusing rights they don't have as American citizen?

we have a visa process, is it illegal to to stop handing out visas whenever we want?

Does it have to be in the constitution for it to be the right thing to do?

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Immigration is as American as apple pie and if you don't like that then you can GTFO.

If the powers are not specified (same sex marriage), then it is enumerated to the states to deal with. Personally, I believe that the government has no business in the concept of marriage.

Immigration controls do need to be in place. Bureaucracy, prevents a good deal of legal immigration so it is no wonder a lot of people come here are illegal immigrants. Another category that is being ignored in this thread are people who come on visas and overstay their time period.

I think that there would be an easier path to citizenship. If migrants want to come here, become citizens, then let them. We could use additional tax revenue (even though I believe taxation is theft) to pay down the deficit. I do agree that there needs to be a vetting process as mentioned above to ensure those wishing to do our country harm are denied. I also believe in securing our borders. I am just not sure in what form that should be. Will a wall really stop those who want to come here from getting here? No. Not unless you make it like the DMZ in Korea and that is just absurd.

So you believe this guy Trump met with should not have been allowed in the country?

I don't post much, but anyone that rolls in here to talk crap about this action is delusional and damn near an enemy of the USA.

This needed to happen and should have been done 8yrs ago. With the actual proven threats we face, open borders and no vetting process is insane.

The real question is how do you build a wall without violating the hiring freeze you just signed.

Contractors. Better in the long term. You submit a RFP, solicit bids, and award a contract (Fixed Fee).

I write proposals all the time.

All fine and good. But in this day and age there are people that want in this country that want to kill us. Is it okay to just rubber stamp everyone coming in because that's who we are? Is it okay to let a few citizens die because that's who we are?

Why would we rubber stamp everyone? If somebody is suspected to be dangerous, keep them out.

I'm just saying don't block people because of nationality. I'm saying let people in. I'm saying let's stop acting like scared little ******* who suspend liberty to avoid small risks. I'm saying let's stop being scared little ******* and compete in the world economy, which includes an open market for labor.

I get called a coward because I don't want to send our young men to war. Isn't the coward the person who fears another nationality so much that they refuse to even let them in their country?
