Where do you want the next Vols coach to come from?

I would put Schilling on the team as an assistant Pitching coach to FA. Seriously, he would be a great hire in that aspect and take over as the pitching coach when FA retires. Plus, I believe he could bring in some top P prospects just based off his MLB career.

with the stigma of enhancement performing substances hanging around?
I am not saying it's a fact.

yes. who really cares about that honestly. he pitched against players that were more than likely using so it was an even playing field and he dominated a lot. You can't deny his pitching acumen. Hell, McGwire is coaching in MLB and he is patient zero.

I’d like to see Kevin Schnall of Coastal Carolina. He goes to the College World Series with a 3 million dollar NIL budget. Imagine what he could do with a 14 million dollar NIL budget.

He is. Our fans, on the other hand…
DW is not good for the university. Quit always blaming the fans. DW is the guy that lied about the imaginary waiting list and sells 13K tickets to ticket brokers. Stop with the DW nonsense. He did not hire any of the coaches that have won any type of championship. He openly admitted he has no relationship with his coaches. That is fireable offense when you are the AD.

And to think, I didn’t even ask for an exhibit.

Tony isn’t going to say anything publicly to hurt UT or Danny White. It’s very hard to understand, but you have two very different people who are focused on success, but are completely different in how that manifests or what the ultimately means. I mean, he’ll, read Tony’s letter. He loves the damn place. At the end of the day Tony isn’t leaving because of DW. But there’s zero doubt in my mind that he was holding the door open when these flirtations began. Not overtly, but passively. DW has been wanting the opportunity to put his mark on UT baseball since he arrived. I heard this less than a year after he arrived.

In Danny’s defense, he made him the highest paid, built him a new stadium and got the most NIL. All true. But Tony wasn’t going to ever conform to the type of behavior that Danny expects in a coach. The things that made us love Tony were an irritant to Danny. And the corporate approach of DW grated on Tony.

This is why I don’t think Tony believes E will be a serious consideration for the job. The things that rubbed on Tony likely won’t be an issue for any other candidate, except E, because he experienced them. There’s not going to be anyone in the candidate pool remotely like Tony. I’ve sat 10 feet from Tony for 5 years for roughy 100+ games. It’s really interesting to see the things that bother him. Until you understand him this way, it will never make sense.

I expect all the old staff to be purged, unless the next coach decides to try and keep some.
Okay, I know Vitello was volatile early in his time here, but where are these comments about his behavior being an irritant to White coming from? Don't recall seeing any news of Vitello doing something to embarrass the program after he had the incidents early on. Were those the concerns? To my eye, he had matured and turned that corner? Maybe I've missed some things?

Might be a perfect storm where everything clicked that one season? Flash in the pan? Kinda like '22 for Heupel?

Tennessee’s baseball NIL budget is not 14 million. The 13.4 million dollar budget Danny was discussing is the operational budget. It’s staff salaries, it’s meals, it’s travel, and stuff like that.

You do realize he regularly appears on Tony Basillio’s show, who is openly critical of the AD? The first part of Danny’s presser was a direct response to Basillio. Thank goodness Chris Low came out and publicly spoke on these tensions. FWIW, I’ve heard it was far worse than what Basillio or any other media has reported. Some of this just shared with me from a dinner party Tony attended this week, where he spoke candidly.

Danny is corporate personified. He wants all the messaging controlled and filtered. Tony’s accessibility and candor are a direct challenge to what Danny wants. I can’t blame him, but you’re going to get a sanitized version, exactly like you see with Heupel. You’re never going to see anything remotely like the access with had to Vitello with a Danny hire. Well, maybe if you’re the water polo coach.

Tony is a smart guy. He knows Danny is going to invest. He’s not blind to the good points Danny brings. I’m not either. You’re going to raise a ton of money, build insane facilities and pay big for coaches and athletes. But, you’re going to pay a price for all that. The access debacle to Neyland is a good example. You need to look up the Founders Club pictures inside Neyland. That ain’t for you buddy. That’s Danny dollars in a nutshell.

You’re going to continue to see seating capacity shrink at Neyland, while premium access goes up. The common fan is going to continue to lose access. It’s already happened and will get far worse. I’ve already got a number of ticket who have partnered with someone else to split the cost.

UT Baseball doesn’t have $14 million. In fact Coastal focuses on one sport. Baseball.
