This might not be the best time to pose this question, on the eve of a rather heartbreaking loss, but I'm curious as to whether the overall outlook of the fanbase is positive or negative.

As for me, I think we're a top 15 team in five years. 5 more years to rebuild the recruiting prowess, to recover from Fulmer's last gasp and Lane's debacle, to adjust fully to the 3-4, to fill out our roster with real quality, to wait for Alabama to finally fall off a bit (every dynasty must end eventually right?)... I'm unsure if our offense will still have a pass-first philosophy, and if Dooley will still be HC. I believe he would be a great longtime coach (an unpopular opinion, I know), but if we get the chance to snag a big name in the business I think our AD takes it.

So overall, I've got high hopes for this team and I think things are looking up. VFL!

What say you?

If this board has its way, we'll be playing in front of 60,000 at home while Doolander's loyal supporters are still making excuses for his football 101 mistakes.

Hopefully getting back on track with a legitimate coach and staff.

If Dooley is still here we're probably still wandering around in mediocrity while people are still making excuses for why we suck so bad.

I agree 100% with what you say here. I think Dooley is our man. People are looking for a quick fix to this problem, and who knows maybe a new coach is the answer, or it could put us right back in the boat we have been in for the past few years. Im not making excuses, but how is it always the HC fault, how about pointing a finger at Chaney or Sal?

didn't realize that Dooley was the one missing tackles today. I thought he actually had a good game plan going in. The D didnt execute with poor angles and tackling. Thats not dooley thats the D coaching staff. If we had the dead of D coaches Chavis we win today.

We are going to become Bammer North.
Nimwad Hart will have brought more Bammer rejects north by then and ALL will be good.

The Trustees need to wake up, Fire Cheek and have some staff and administration run UT that gives a crap about TN...

If you took saban away from bama and put dooley their mid year they would lose at least 2 games to a mediocre team period and no NC

I think things are going in the right direction under CDD. Don't think it will take 5 years but 2 more anyway. Defence look slow tonight. Two or three plays and we have a diffrent out come.

The SEC started in the 1930s. The Vols have won the SEC at least twice a decade every decade except the 70s and the 00s. The current trend cannot continue. Within five years we will be SEC champions with or without Dooley.

if our competitors continue to have strong programs and keep their good in state recruits

and

UT admin continues its game plan of not ponying up the cash for an elite coach

then

in 5 years we will be right here, alternately celibrating and condemning the moral victories and continued mediocrity of CDD, or his clone successor

Even though our D was terrible, if Rajon makes his catch and Patterson makes his touchdown catch we win with a bad D showing against the most balanced offense in the college game.

I think next year could be special if we only lose hunter to the draft. Our line will be probably the best in the nation, good receivers, good qb, the D will have second year 3-4 leap, and maybe have a man named Greene running the ball. We are in a good place in 5 yrs with or without Dooley, I hope with though.
