So it.sucked for a decade? Gotcha
Wouldnt that go for every program? I mean, if they didnt lose so much they would be a better program?
Yep. That would’ve never happened in Knoxville. 1997-98 was a temporary recovery, but Mizzou didn’t fully recover from that era until about 2006. Corby Jones and Brad Smith were like lights in a sea of darkness.Oh yeah you are correct it would go for any program if they didn't lose their record would be better.... but it's sort of the circumstances of the losing ie..the gutting that took place, it was self inflicted, beyond neglect or apathy by the university. It was a cold hard calculated death blow by the academic egg head in their advertised mission to make us the Harvard of the midwest which is laughable. They had a plan to rid themselves of and robber baron the athletic programs at the same time. It went on for near a decade or longer. It took a intervention by many including Dan Devine in the early 90's to save the program. Sad affair and comical at the same time.
Seriously? You really believe a QB's decisions on every play from reading the opposing D to when to deliver the ball to which receiver to choose even to when to snap the ball has more impact on the game than decisions of other players? That's silly thinking.I disagree that QBs decisions have more influence.
Led and initiated on O by the QB and his decisions.Winning takes the team.
If they were great and his decisions were constantly poor... they'd win many games? If the QB makes great decisions, one or two players on the O can screw up and the play still succeed. If everyone does things exactly right except the QB... the play fails.Again we can use the OL. Lets take Trevor Lawrence. Now if his OL was absolutely pathetic and. He was getting hammered every other play, do you think they win many games?
Not always. It can put too much emphasis on a single player but again the QB's decisions and mistakes impact every single play on O. That's not true of any other position.Quoting a QBs record as a starter is ridiculous. Its putting way to much emphasis on a single player. Take away the OL, TE, WRs and the QB has nothing.
It is true on offense. One player not doing his job will create the miss-match which will destroy the play. Offense is much more difficult to play then Defense where a player an make a wrong read and the play can still be stopped. Have you not ever played the game?Seriously? My point was the only player that is necessarily true of is the QB. If an offside OT doesn't get a chip... the RB may still out run the DE. If an offside WR doesn't get a good block then it will have little impact on a run play to the other side. If the QB screws up or makes a bad decision... it has impact. It is true on offense. Kelly B is definitely not Drew L, but he has a different set of tools. Remember, he is something like 17-2 as a starter, and was injured early in one of those.
He can convert 3rd and 6 with his legs if he gets outside the pocket. He is also very good at the zone read. "Not Lock" isn't necessarily "Not dangerous".
He would still be Clemson's starter if they hadn't recruited a generational QB line Trevor L.
He might be 17-2 as a starter, but he won't be surrounded by 4 and 5 stars at MZ. I think we beat them down in the 4th quarter and come out with a victory.
