Where do we go from here?

Did I say it was the end of the world? I'm pretty calm actually unlike some others. Honestly though if you think getting a solid post player is the same for this program as getting a 5 star stud from inside the state then your not seeing the big picture.

It read to me like you were pouting about it like a lot of fans have been today, but I apologize if I misunderstood you.

However, I never said that getting a solid post player was the same as getting a 5 star stud.

All I was saying was that there isn't any reason to panic. Of course it sucks, but I have no doubt Cuonzo can find a good one for us. There's a whole lot to feel good about with where the basketball program is headed.

No apology necessary it's been a rough day for most Vol fans but your right there's no reason to panic. I went half the day thinking Dooley had been fired (don't ask) only to find out the "sad news" was really that AN had committed to Memphis "State". Tomorrow will be better plus until AN signs there is always a chance he will change his mind. Not likely but you never know. I know his decision isn't because he doesn't like it here.

Memphis didn't think they were getting him a week ago.

Mama has a lot of influence on the male children. Mama wants him to go to Memphis. Daddy wanted him to go to Duke. He wants to go to Tennessee. Mama wins most of the time.

what a great post -so true - on the positive - Mr. Hubbs is the man - will be a stud, much needed scorer,"super star" the kind of player you wind-up and turn loose (give him the ball and get out of the way). Mr. Davis will be an enforcer, rebound machine and Mr. Landry (after watching Chievous,Richardson, and Edwards last night) will be a solid PG/2G for us because Martin wants him.

One thing I did notice about last night - Coach Martin took the AN news hard - just a very disappointed look and mood - post game had little to say - this is (to me )
a positive - he put everything he had into this recruitment (wasn't for the lack of effort) And if the world doesn't end on Dec. 21 I say "GO get-um Coach and GO BIG ORANGE!!!"

Yeah, it's definitely been a rough time for Vol fans lately. We really need something to go our way. But we'll be fine. I think the basketball team could do some special things this year.

Signing in the Spring is pretty common in basketball. Why wouldn't anyone keep their options open until the Spring. Hell, Patner may go 500 this year and get fired. It could come out that he lied about a BBQ and suddenly get fired. Anything can happen. It's only smart to keep your options open until then.

CCM has signed Stokes from Memphis. That's it. Hubbs is not from Memphis. I've lived in Dyersburg for awhile. It's not like a Memphis suburb at all. Far from it. We all know how Stokes got here, so there is no need in going into that. I'm not questioning CCM recruiting, but we ALL knew that Nichols was a MUST get as thin as we will be next year in the post. Especially, if Stokes leaves. If we have not learned this lesson already, then let's try to remember it this time. NEVER KEEP ALL YOUR EGGS IN A MEMPHIS BASKET!!!!

Ditto

I understand that, but being stuck SOL at what will be your weakest position hurts when you go all-in on one guy because you believe he's in the bag. Memphis wasn't banking on Nichols and went after several other fish as well. They ended up with one and Tennessee didn't.

I agree. A coach has a question mark beside their name until they have a AA tournament resume. Lets hope we start building that resume this March.

Looks like CCM is comfortable with keeping the scholly until 2014. Doesn't appear that he thinks we can get in on any kids worth taking at this point.

With Austin Nichols off the board, Vols will sit on open scholarship | The Mighty Quinn | GoVolsXtra.com

Interesting.

We all have to make an assumption that somebody leaves after the season, at least IMO.

I think they take a JUCO post, especially if Jarnell stays.

Stokes/Yemi/Davis/JUCO is still a pretty decent post rotation.
