Let's put the game behind us and try to focus on the future. Use this game as a reference to identify problems and the most plausible solutions that will help for the rest of the year and for years to come.

The biggest problem in my eyes is our o-line. I never focus on the o-line (boring to watch) but I don't ever recall seeming a line from Tennessee that gets burnt on plays so often. The entire game it seemed like our guys were on their heels getting pushed backed and often holes were exposed causing pressure on the qb.

We all know that Crompton doesn't deal well with adversity, so why allow pressure on him to begin with?? Do you see where I am getting at? We are stuck with Crompton for this year so we need to make sure he doesn't get rattled or else we are screwed.

I honestly don't know if the line gave their all tonight. It just felt like they gave about a C effort tonight. I wish we get a line that was dominant. How do you do that???? You recruit hard at these positions. Linemen on both sides of the ball play pivotal roles in games an often serve as the catalyst between a win and a loss. Sound familiar (tonight if they gave the qb more time Crompton might not have freaked out as much).

I think CLK should have looked at throwing some play action passes to Hardesty up the middle and some mid-range passes to the tight ends. It seemed like we either threw wing passes in the flats or lengthy passes that Crompton has no business attempting. Crompton's performance completely changed the gameplan that was suppose to happen. Again it is easy to look at things in hindsight 20/20 and I am not trying to flame CLK. I thought he did a good job of maintaining a decent approach at calling plays. I mean he has a qb spraying the ball to everyone but his own team so he has to figure out a way to continue to move the ball, now knowing that UCLA knows that we have to run the ball.

If our coaches can get our O-Line to push we will be better. Problem is that Florida hasn't let us run much in the past 3-4 years.

Just like I mentioned in my post, "linemen often serve as catalyst to either winning or losing games". Florida always has outstanding linemen who create havoc on our offense. Often their line outperforms our offensive line which creates a downward spiral of events. It makes teams less dimensional. For us we were one-dimensional tongith by only being able to run the ball. When they knew that was going to happen all they had to do to deter our running attack was load up the box.

When they did that it was game over. That is why I am still impressed that were able to run as well as we did. I think Hardesty might have had one of his best games of his career at UT simply to the fact that he had everything going against him tonight but he persevered and continued on with a respectable night.

Tennessee absolutely HAS to win on first down. Meaning 5 yards average per play on first down. They can't do that running against good defenses. Not consistently. Kiffin knows that which is why Crompton threw on 1st down a lot.

On first down, i would mix run, with ROLLING play action, sending Brown or a TE out in the same direction as Crompton so he has an easy throw. Then hope that brown can break a tackle or two.

Now you can pound away on 2nd and 3rd down. Or on 3rd and short, you can mix in play action once again.

But even with that, it's just so hard to have an effective offense with a poor QB.

They sat on the short routes, knowing if we did dare throw the ball, that's all we would try.

We tried a bootleg to the TE, and Crompton waited too long to get him the ball.

Our screen passes were sniffed out and had 0 chance.

We were going against some very good DB's tonight. Our WR's never got any separation.

Next week will be fugly.

just take a forfeit next saturday. Its less painful then watching Teblow and Meyer run it up on us. plus a forfeit goes as 2-0. Not bad. That way for all those who gamble (I dont) can bet against the spread and win. HAHAHAHAHAHA

I'm not stuck with Crompton if I'm the Coach; you just say "Crompton, don't ever get off the bench again."

I think our O line is weak.. Esp weak side. I dont know why they didnt run left all day they were racking up yards everytime.. They have to fix that.

To relieve pressure off the offense we need to also stop having 2nd down and 10 all the time. I think we need to incorporate more mid-range passes that will give Crompton an opportunity to make a quick pass. You have to make your gameplan around your players that are going to play. Crompton stares down receivers extremely bad. He doesn't have any business throwing the long ball where he waits for a receiver to get open. He is a 5-12 yard type thrower. That is where he can make his money. Crompton doesn't understand how to read defenses and does not like to throw in the middle of the field so you have to give him out routes to help him out.

I think you are right on. Why Crompton didn't throw the ball where a receiver could attempt to make a play even if covered on that last pass I will never know. How ironic that this pass was thrown into the turf. Of course its a kind of visceral thing he does to avoid interceptions, but it was the last chance?

I think our center got whipped pretty soundly most of the day--and it's hard to do anything when that happens. I sort of agree that Crompton needs to throw short, not long--but our short routes are never open. In truth, the offense played EXACTLY like last year's--a terrifying reality, frankly. Crompton just doesn't make good decisions on the field, in the heat of the action--and that is not coachable.
