Where did life begin? (Merged)

Do you believe we have a creator, aka "God"?

You have to have a big imagination to put that there. There is no way you could come up with that theory from the bible alone.

man does not live on bread alone. God provided science/natural way of things. observing and accepting it does not deny Him.

The bible doesn't talk about disease being from germs, is that wrong?
The bible doesn't talk about men flying, life saving medicine, radio, television, the internet or anything else, are they wrong?

Why don't you quote the whole verse? Man shall not live by bread alone but by what? You have taken that verse wildly out of context.

And we are told it was kept secret and not revealed.
There is no mind change. That is a complete misrepresentation. Planned and not revealed is not a change of mind.

Why was Paul's ministry NOT revealed to Peter and the 12?

Bingo. well said, brother.

God has shown a progressive revelation throughout history. It doesn't mean He has changed, just that His revelation to us has changed.

Diet, per God: vegetarian before Noah. Meat after Noah. Levitical laws specifically to Israel.

God progressively revealed His desires before Moses, and has since. Call it God changing or progressive revelation. The fact of the matter is that God dealt with man in different ways before the Torah; He has dealt with us differently after. Paul did a splendid job explaining why and how--i.e. tieing it all together theologically so that we wouldn't have to ask if God is a man, that he would change.

But by faith and grace of God or something.

you have still not pointed out where there is a direct conflict that would challenge ones faith, yet alone God.

What you are saying is nowhere to be found in the Bible. You are trying put a theory into the Bible and trying to make it say something the Bible plainly does not teach.

And Messiah said.

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

But he was just kidding

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Deny all you please, the fact is he is risen! If you do not believe this you will die in your sins!

What's your literal interpretation of hell look like?

I'll tell you my views. I believe in heaven but not hell. Some will receive eternal life. Others will simply die.

I will most gladly give you my beliefs on hell. Please be patient and I will give you my answer tonight when I'm around my laptop.
I will give you what the Bible says and a little of my own commentary if that's okay so you will know my opinion of the subject.

yup, that would be the bang of the big bang.

also any such light not based on the sun and our rotation relative to it would be constant (to us) and not have a day/night cycle.

the stars are just as bright during the day as they are at night, same with the moon (which is why you can see it on some days)

LV how would you like me to insert my commentary in your plain statements? And twisted your speech to make it fit my prerogative? I will take a wild guess and say that you would not be happy with me!
How do you think God feels about what you are doing to his words?

the bible isn't supposed to be an encyclopedia of all things real. it doesn't even attempt to be, not sure why you want to defend it as such.

I let the Bible be what it is. I don't add anything to it. there are areas it doesn't address, I fill them, in this case with big scary science. The Bible informs me on matters of faith. nothing more, nothing less.

It makes a very plain declaration concerning creation, it doesn't need help saying what it says even a 5th grader can read and understand.
There are several basic biblical principles that apply in all areas of life.

LV it all boils down to this do you believe the Bible or not? Either it is God's word to live by or it simply is not.
I believe wholeheartedly it is words to live by!

so you ride an ass to work, don't eat pork, don't use any modern conveniences etc etc? Gone riding inside a literal whale? Talked to plants?

fwiw, even though you won't hear it, I do believe it is God's word to live by. I am not so worried about the letter of the word, just the spirit of it.

I said biblical principles, no need to twist what I say.
And by the way I do believe Jonah spent 3 nights and 3 days in the belly of a whale. I simply take God's word at face value exactly what it says. If it says, like or as, then don't take it literal. For instance speaking of the beast in Revelation that had hair like the hair of women or had teeth like the teeth of a lion.
You do not have to explain away the miracles of God.
When the Bible said that God parted the Red Sea, that is exactly what God meant.

your first line seems to contradict the rest.

you talk about principals and then get hot and bothered the bible isn't a history book.

There are biblical principles that apply to every area of life. Search as honesty, integrity, morality, Liberty etc....
Some things in the Bible are written for you but not necessarily to you. That is why you should keep it in context.
You Maddie want to look at who it is talking to, what it is talking about, and is it meant for you or someone else.
Certain distinctions should be made in the Bible. Such as make distinctions about the Jews the Gentiles the church.
J Edwin hartill has a very good book about biblical hermeneutics. I highly recommend you check it out.

I'll tell you my views. I believe in heaven but not hell. Some will receive eternal life. Others will simply die.

If this is not enough scripture to convince you the bible teaches an everlasting punishment and that there is a literal burning hell then I'm not sure that I can help. Please prayerfully consider these scriptures. there are many more references but this should suffice.:hi:

Luke 16:19-31 (KJV)
19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:
28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
Jude 1:7 (KJV)
7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
Psalm 21:9-10 (KJV)
9 Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the LORD shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.
10 Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.
Matthew 3:10-12 (KJV)
10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
12 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.
Matthew 5:22 (KJV)
22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
Hebrews 10:28-31 (KJV)
28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Hebrews 12:29 (KJV)
29 For our God is a consuming fire.
Matthew 23:33 (KJV)
33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
Mark 9:42-50 (KJV)
42 And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
43 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:
48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
49 For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt.
50 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.
Matthew 8:12 (KJV)
12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 13:39-42 (KJV)
39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.
40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.
41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 5:29-30 (KJV)
29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
Matthew 10:28 (KJV)
28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Revelation 14:9-11 (KJV)
9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
Revelation 21:8 (KJV)
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.
12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;
13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.
2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 (KJV)
7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

I spent a lot of time on this subject and do not believe in eternal life in torment and there’s tons of support for that viewpoint. Including a different interpretation of many vs you posted.
I don’t buy the KJV only though. I’m more interested in the truth than what someone else wants me to think it is
Here’s a link from an opposing view.
Food for thought.
