2 Peter 1:16-21 (KJV)
16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (KJV)
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Truly believers are spiritual Jews, Jesus lived as a Jew, followed Jewish customs, practices, and kept their traditions. That's the plain truth.
Is Purple Rain a hymn in their church? I think it might be.
He was an amazing musician. Could play something like 20 or 30 instruments very well. Talented dude. Not the manliest fella i ever saw tho...
I am a practicing Christian, and partly agree with this. I agree with the vast majority of what slice posts, for that reason. I go to a baptist church, that I love, but I dont claim to be a baptist. Dogma is dogma. Couldnt care less about it. Doctrine, however is important. My pastor speaks plain biblical truth, and tries not to put his views and opinions therein. Thats why I worship where I do.
Jesus was a Jew. Truth. I believe he was also the Son of God, the Messiah, a living sacrifice as repentance for our sins. A man who never, ever broke jewish law or sinned. Ever. Never tried to look up suzies skirt, never told a lie...ever. He was tortured and then skewered and left to die a miserable death for a nearly worthless sinner like me. And you. Then, much like Lazarus, He rose from the dead and ascended to Heaven to prepare a place for those who return His love.
It really is that simple. He loved me first. While i was still deep in sin, He loved me. When I met Him, i came to love him too. Enough to go worship Him several times a week and give him more than 10% of everything I earn. 10,000 dollar bonus check? He gets a grand off the top. Thats a tithe. The offering is what we give beyond that, for missions, our church in Nicaragua, etc. Its all His anyway, He just gives me what we need. We have never gone hungry, never lacked a place to sleep. He will provide, even when I cant.
The part most jews differ with me on is that they believe Jesus was just a prophet, and are still waiting for the Messiah to come. I am waiting for Him to come back...and so is slice. I would happily worship at his synagogue, were I able and invited. I think my beliefs line up very closely with Messianic Jews.
That would be pretty gnarly.
Off topic..slept with my first black chick with that movie playing....was a weird night..she just made me prior watch Fist of the North Star....and before that made me spaghetti and told me horror stories about marinara sauce and her people..

No reasonable person would believe that a person who committed those kinds of acts would be a practicing Christian.
While it might be technically possible to do such a terrible thing, have a change of heart, and dedicate the rest of your life in service to Christ, but I can't think of an example. So taking that ultra rare exception and holding it up as though rapists and serial murderers are better than unbelievers in the eyes of Christians is dubious and a gross mischaraterization of the faith.
It is their lives at stake. God never leaves himself without a witness. His creation tells that there is a creator. God is well able to get the gospel to a seeking sinner that wants to truly know him.
And what Torah principal was James teaching?
Hanukkah 2:4
4 "Look at the proud: he is inwardly not upright; but the righteous will attain life through trusting faithfulness.
Look at that. The Old Testament says salvation is by Trusting faithfulness just like James.
(Other than this Jew) who would have thought that
I remember him when I was in high school being in the Spencer Davis Group. When I went to U.T. he had gone to Traffic and then Blind Faith. We were aware of who he was back in the mid 60's.Prince's guitar work was freaking awesome. The guy had tons of talent yet flashed it rarely. I know he went through some weird phases, but he is one of the best pure musicians since Steve Winwood.
