Probably the dumbest thread I have seen in a long time. He has played one, yes one game against a defense that was among the worst last year and our center got hurt…

We should not even be having this type of discussion, but rather being 100% supportive of our team, coaches, and the starting QB.

Its a message board guy. If you want to be 100% supportive no matter what you see on the field then by all means you are free to do so. There's nothing wrong with discussing what we saw on the field Thursday night. That's kind of the point of a message board.

He ain’t gonna have all day to to throw in when SEC play starts… even with all day to throw against bowling green he was barely 50%

Very concerned. Yeah he has a lot of “upside” because of the rocket launcher attached to his shoulder but the truth of the matter is if he doesn’t start completing some of these long passes teams will not respect the deep ball and start taking away the short stuff kinda like teams did to the Steelers last year. Tell you who Milton reminds me of is Jamarcus Russell former LSU QB. I would go with HB since he is most likely of the 3 to throw those “dimes” downfield that go for big plays

He started 5 games last year before getting benched so it isn’t completely crazy to not be overly confident til improvement is shown.

Interesting that over 80% are concerned or very concerned. Only 10% were in the positive category. Here's to those % flipping next Sunday

When the conversation, at this point in his career, centers around his need to improve his accuracy/touch and ability to read defenses and find open receivers quickly: The Vols have troubles........and he's obviously the best one of the bunch!

Slightly concerned. Are there some issues? Sure. But remember he got here in what June? I think he will definitely improve.
We have 3 solid athletes at QB. I trust in Heupel and his ability to teach the position…he’s one of the best in all of college football at doing this. If he yanks Milton…Hooker has more experience and should be completely confident to take over. Milton may shine in practice but Hooker has proven himself more in live action.

BTW…if you haven’t watched him run with the ball in his hand you’re missing out. Dude is agile, slippery, and glides on the field.

I went with slightly concerned, only because you didn't put an option in for neutral. I didn't like some of what I saw but others were okay. One game is not enough for me to have concern or excitement. If you plan to do this weekly or something along those lines, please include a neutral option. As it is now, you are either excited or concerned.

I am curious to see who Heupel starts against Pitt. It won’t surprise me if it’s Milton. But I wonder if he gives Hooker or Bailey a shot.

there should have been a selection that it is too early to decide.

Before the Pittsburgh game, I posted that Milton would make good plays and bad plays, with the ratio being important. Some peep are discounting the good plays while noticing and even exaggerating the bad plays. Other peep are copping out by saying that it's only the first game; we are not supposed to observe and post about what we see and think. My position remains the same, that the ratio of good plays to bad plays is important. Reviewing video of the game, I did not jot down the pluses and minuses, but I can say that Milton did make a number of well executed plays, with good timing and accurate placement. He looked good through much of the game. He also made several concerning mistakes. Can the mistakes be corrected with coaching? Yes, but only to a degree. I think we'll see most of his mistakes again.

On the other hand over 55% are not very concerned at all. How does that work? Does anybody know how many folks sign on on a daily basis? Like to know what percent this less than a thousand votes represents. Highly possible the more intelligent and rational fans refused to get involved in this discussion at all. I do fear that this board will be impacted by fewer folks willing to read through those that over value their own analysis capabilities on both ends of the spectrum and even the volume of posts put out there not aligning with either pole, but simply taking exception with those they think are over the line of rationality on either end. Bet the truth is somewhere in the middle, usually is.

People are saying don't judge Milton on just one game, and that would be true if it was just one game, but it is not just one game. There is a ton of film on him at Michigan and we see the all the same issues that cost him his starting job, with no real improvement. Usually the lack of accuracy that we see can be caused by a host of issues, but namely footwork and other poor fundamentals, which he apparently has never been able to develop. JG was the same thing, big arm little else.

Bailey would have just picked that defense apart with 7 sec or more to throw. I really hope Milton can improve with the Pitt game but it is highly unlikely when you look at his body of work, it is not pretty. I think Josh is a really good coach and if it is ugly at Pitt he will make a change at OB.

Need to take into account he has not had that many practice reps with the system or the WRs. 4 weeks of coaching with the staff and 11 on 11 practice. I expected a lot of mistakes and there are going to be more just due to lack of reps. I also recognize he is not a top flight college QB but that is true of those behind him as well.

they are more than fine with Milton. I don't see them looking for a change until October at the earliest. I'm not even certain what their criteria is to make a change. He has had few practice reps and he will have a long leash to get comfortable with the system. Choosing him as the # 1 with his limited work says more about the other 2 from the coaches perspective than it does him IMO.
