The more I hear about Fairhope, the more i think it would be great place to live or visit. We spent week at Fort Morgan in June with son, his wife and two toddlers. Trying to perpetuate boys' belief that Poppy lives at the beach.

The biggest drawback to Fairhope is housing costs. Real estate is really expensive due to limited supply and high demand. New housing in the vicinity of downtown Fairhope to the bay approaches $300/sq. ft. Lots are small. Building restrictions are rigid. Old residences are "turning over" (torn down and new houses built). There are 4 houses "turning over" within 150 yds. of my home, about 5 blocks from the bay. I would suggest that anyone considering moving to Fairhope rent for a few months to see where you want to be and what it costs.

I was totin' my pack along the dusty Winnemucca road
When along came a semi with a high an' canvas covered load
"If you're goin' to Winnemucca, Mack, with me you can ride"
And so I climbed into the cab and then I settled down inside
He asked me if I'd seen a road with so much dust and sand
And I said, "Listen, I've traveled every road in this here land"

I've been everywhere, man
I've been everywhere, man
Crossed the desert's bare, man
I've breathed the mountain air, man

Cool thread. Just now seeing it as I was in the Canadian Rockies for the past 10 days skiing and seeing the sights. Wore one of my Tennessee shirts on the return trip Thursday and got a “Go Vols” from one of the passenger screening agents in the Calgary airport.

As for the thread topic, my wife and I both grew up in Athens (TN) and graduated from UT in the early ‘80s. Have lived in Huntsville, AL, for 30+ years (minus 3 years in London), but like many others have said, I’ll always be a Tennessean. Have 3 kids who were all born in a Huntsville but are all die-hard Vol fans despite graduating from AL schools (UAH and Auburn x2).

I thumbed my way from LA back to Knoxville, I found those bright lights ain't where I belonged.
My moma was a Dodge City dance hall girl, and my daddy was a river boat gambler. I was born in a barrel of butcher knives, been shot in the azz , with 2 colt 45s. Today I’m every mother’s boy, and have a home everywhere I go with my Big Orange cap on my head.

Born, raised and still reside in South Bend, IN. The miracle at ND was what peaked my interest when I was 8 and then my uncle being stationed at Fort Campbell and us making bi-weekly trips to see him and go to Opryland solidified my love for the Orange and White.
Back then games were more regionally broadcast with only a couple games being the exception. So without those trips the only way I could’ve even seen the Vols was the occasional national broadcast game.

Cool thread!!
Born i n NYC, Dad moved us to Knoxville whenI was 5. The old born yankee but Rebel by the grace of God line 😎 , opened up RJ’s pizza in Halls. Moved back to NY at 18 but of course my blood was already transfused to Orange.
Moved to Poconos for 15 years and finally gave up snow shovel for sand shovel and now live by beaches outside of Tampa.
Don’t post often but on VOL Nation most everyday, thanks Freak!!
Surround by gators but some have become best friends. They don’t really hate Vols because,,, yuck 🤢 we hardly beat them. Even had kids at the time that never lost to Vols, until JJ made them burnt toast a couple of years ago. Loved it!!!
I can’t wait until we make them hate us again. It’s coming,,, SOON!!
Go VOLS!!!!!
