Where are the Holly haters now??

Syracuse had 2 McDonalds HS All Americans..... to our 7 !!!!!!! But they had grit..... Peterson really played inspired basketball.....

Good tournament for the LVs... could have been a lot better I think though

I was done with Holly on Wednesday Dec 02, 2015 when she decided to quit in the middle of a game. Imo, she should have been fired that night. Her actions were a disgrace to the players and the university.

Warlick: “I am not going to coach effort — I’m not going to do it, I’m not going to stand on the sidelines and watch us not have any emotion. So I sat down. Good, bad — I’m not coaching it. So as I feel sometimes they take a couple of games off, I took the second half off.”

kinda like tonight, huh?

You haven't seen my screen name "pop up" because I haven't "defended her"! I've just been a casual observer of post after post calling..."begging" for her to be fired. Nothing "cowardly" about me or my opinion...I promise you that! I'm not saying Holly is or isn't the right fit. It's just a little humorous to hear the "crickets" now that the lady Vols are one of only 8 teams still in it. BUT..l'm sure coaching, game planning, film study, pushing the right buttons, and motivational strategies have had nothing to do with this great run....right? They must just be lucky! Lol

No matter which way you cut it, Holly is not the right coach to take this program forward. She has no clue how to make adjustments when things are falling apart and her subbing patterns are all over the place. She may have been a great assistant, but as a head coach she is on the sucking side of the equation. With Graves and Moore headed out the door, where are their replacements as bigs? Russell is just too weak to handle that position by herself and besides all that, no one has really coached her up. Not to mention the 2016 recruiting donut. If this was the men's team Holly would be fired right after she bowed out of the NCAAs.

Well I'm right here and I have been one of HOLLY DOOLEY WARLICK'S biggest critics. Yes I still want her replaced. The ladies have motivated themselves apparently and I'm happy for them. I have congratulated them. Like another poster, a good tourney run does not make a coach. :the_finger:

Why would you hear anything, unless the they said where has this team been all year. One tourney run shouldn't make or break a coach. Her terrible recruiting and bad coaching all year should have her fired though.

You're right. There was a thread in the men's basketball forum (for whatever reason). I just merged them into here. Thanks. :hi:

That must be it Freak. Came back to this earlier and it seemed to go from 10-3 posts. Must have been the other one. Sorry.

All I can say is that it was a poor performance today and Syracuse deserved to win. They hustled. The LVs just let them drive to the basket for layups. Where was the defense? The only good thing coming out of this loss is that we don't have to worry about getting shellacked by Geno and posting our worst loss in LV history. If Holly can get the team next season to play like they did the last 7 games, excluding today, then fine. Fortunately that's not my decision because I would pull the plug on the coaching.
Proof is in the pudding--next season will tell the tale.

This WAS our worst loss in LV history... A team with 7 MDAA's loses by over 20 to an unranked team... Name one worse.!

Just because the team played good enough to win a couple of games in the tournament does not change the fact that we still were not ranked in the top 25 it does not change the fact that this team with 7 high school all Americans lost more games in a single season ever and it does not change the fact that we have 0 of the espn top 100 players coming in ! Holly has run this team off in the ditch and if she stays you can expect the same results or worse next season ! Our lady vols were the worst rebounding and transition defense team I've seen in a long time !

Classy.

Given her entire life to UT.

What exactly have you accomplished? Four straight NCAA appearances, three E8's. You're qualified to assess the situation because you have done what?

Honest question?

Can we stop pretending that Elite Eights in women's basketball are actually elite?

There have been a lot of coaching hires made based on the exact opposite premise. Bruce Pearl coming to mind very quickly.

Look at Pearl's pre-UT coaching record, and you'll quickly see that he wasn't a one-shot wonder. Here's a quick summary of his success: (courtesy of Wiki)

SOUTHERN INDIANA

In 1992, Pearl got his first head-coaching job, at Southern Indiana. He inherited a Screaming Eagles team that had won just 10 games in the previous season. Pearl posted a 22–7 record in his first season, and led the Eagles to nine straight NCAA D-II tournaments in addition to winning four Great Lakes Valley Conference titles.

In 1994, USI finished with a 28–4 record en route to a loss in the D-II championship game; in 1995, the Eagles won 29 games and claimed the D–II championship. Pearl was named the NABC Division II coach of the year after his national championship. He left USI with a 231–46 record over nine years.

MILWAUKEE

Pearl took over as head coach of the Milwaukee Panthers men's basketball team in 2001. In just four seasons, he compiled 86 wins (including a school-record 26 in 2005, and a new Horizon League record for winning percentage) and led Milwaukee to their first NCAA tournament appearances in 2003 and 2005. Pearl led them to the Horizon League tournament title in both of those years. He also led the school to its first ever NIT bid, as well as its first-ever NCAA D–I postseason victory, in 2004. Milwaukee's 2005 NCAA Tournament run capped the best season in school history, as the Panthers won both the regular season and conference tournament titles, defeating the Detroit Titans in the championship game. Using an intense full-court press, the Panthers scored two upsets in three days over Alabama and Boston College en route to the Sweet Sixteen, where they fell to eventual national runner-up Illinois. The Panthers finished their season 26–6 and were ranked in the coaches poll at the end of the season for the first time ever (# 23). Pearl left UWM after the 2005 season, his fourth, as the Horizon League's leader in all-time winning percentage (51–13, 79.7%).

I don't recall Taber, Kamiko and Faith being on that team.

Nah Spurrier...I couldn't care less about "likes"...I bet you keep a close count though! I stand by my original stance that posters haven't got a lot to bi.ch about now that they've made it this far. I'm not defending her..but for people to say that talent and talent alone is what's gotten them this far in the tourney are ignorant...and probably haven't played a meaningful qtr of basketball. (and again...don't concern yourself with the "like button"!

Good Lord.

"Made it this far?"
If you are comparing it to what she has done previously I suppose you have a point.

The perceived finish to the tournament seems well because she fell flat on her face the rest of the season.

She's not Pat Head (not that she or anyone else ever will be) but her team(s) does not respond to her. Thats about all you need to see.

I dont think her players respect her either
