When you see other Vol fans...

I don't recall having said go Vols to any Vols fans. But I do recall having said some things to people wearing Bama and Florida gear on several occasions.

Depends on the situation. I live near Memphis, and I see other fans on a daily basis. I usually say "go Vols" if I see a kid wearing orange. My son has told me it isn't easy being a kid and a UT fan around here. He's also taught me that Memphis State fans are deserving of being loathed.

I grew up in Jackson, and the majority of folks were UT fans. Seems strange in Memphis that so many dislike their state school.

Usually a Go Vols. Up here in WV, we are few and far between.
Said "Go Vols" to a guy in the Houston airport a few weeks ago and ended up in a 20 minute convo.

I say "Go Vols!" and I rarely get anything in return. The past 10 times I've done it, I only got one reply back. It was from an old timer and he said "Yeah, alright."

There's a not insignificant Vol fan base in Memphis. Probably equal with Ole Miss as the most represented SEC school.

Living in VA I usually say "Go Rocky Top" or "Go Vols". Did that once to this attractive lady who forgot she was wearing her UT hat. She thought I was trying to talk to her and attempted to start a conversation. Would have been awesome if my wife want standing there, instead it was awkward. Wife just she her head and looked at me like "you're idiot."

i was driving over vail pass the other day and i noticed a car with an alabama front plate(the a). At the time i was driving in the left lane. I immediately cut him off and when i looked in the rear view he was laughing and making an "a" with his hands(i have a power t on the back of my truck). I then rolled down the window and flipped him off. He laughed and i continued in the right lane for a few miles at a slow speed so he could take in the power t.

vfl imo

When you see other Vol fans in public do you say anything to them, like a "Go Big Orange" or a "Go Vols"?

I've noticed a lot of Bama fans do this, saying Roll Tide to every damn person they come across. I find it awkward personally.

What say you?

I usually say "Go Vols!" When I'm in other parts of the country (or world!) that'd be all everyone would say if they did that around Knoxville! 😛

Bammers should be careful saying roll tide to people...they have so many band wagoners, half the people wouldn't even know what they are talking about!

I begin singing, at the top of my lungs, "ROCKY TOP YOU'LL ALWAYS BE HOME SWEET HOME TO ME!! GOOD OLE ROCKY TOP..." and then point at them for the "Woo!" but I usually just get awkward looks.

Go Vols!

The bandwagon has all but disappeared here in TX though, Vol fans are few and far between these days. Bama's is strong right now :(

I was on the USS Kitty Hawk out of Japan, had this young kid always wearing his Bama gear and talking smack about being from Happy Hill(s) Alabama, needless to say being the NCO in charge of the space I made sure he cleaned the crappers every morning for 3 months while I sported my Power T hat.

I'm in AZ -
whenever I see someone wearing anything Vols/Tennessee - I will give them a "Go Vols"

Funniest thing I have had a stranger Vol fan say to me -

Was in the Atlanta (Jan 2014) Airport wearing a power T hoodie - I'm actually walking in an area where no one is really around or close to me. This guy comes directly toward me. I have earbuds in. I see he's talking to me kind of aggressively. I take the head phone out to hear what he's saying. (I'm thinking he's pi$$ed at me for some reason). I say, "What?" He says, "Hey man, ***** Lane Kiffin!" I said, "Are you saying that from a Tennessee perspective or Alabama?" He says "Tennessee - but it could be either." We both smile, laugh, and go our desperate ways.

Then, ironically I'm getting on my plane the co-pilot asks me what I think about Lane Kiffin going to Alabama.
