A "4.4 - 40 - Fullback" according to P Fulmer on Sunday morning after the victory over UF in 1998.

Imagine the defenses surprise when they have been practicing for Jamal Lewis and Travis Henry all week only to find out that Bryson was the fastest player on the team. Man we were loaded. Jamal Lewis - all pro NFL (and set the record for most rushing yards in a game in the NFL at that time). Travis Henry - a DB's worst nightmare to try and tackle. Shawn Bryson - Had a good career in the NFL. Led the Bills in rushing one year. Man we were stacked! That's 3 NFL top flight caliber running backs on ONE college team. Good thing there was no NIL back then or we surly would have lost at least one.

Glad we had the three headed monster at TB in 1998…Jamal Lewis, Travis Henry and Travis Stephens…we lost our starting TB early in the year (vs Auburn) and never missed a beat…

During the 1990 Notre Dame game in Knoxville, Holtz sometimes had them in a full house backfield with three high-quality ball carriers. I can't remember exactly which he had back there together during the game other than Ricky Watters & Rocket Ismail, but they also had Rodney Culver, Dorsey Levens, Tony Brooks and Jerome Bettis at their disposal. They were so deep at RB, they moved Reggie Brooks to DB that season. Conversely, Jeff Burris also got carries as a RB that season before getting moved to DB. "Too many running backs" was a good "problem" for Holtz to have.

What are you basing that assessment on?

Thomas is a good RB. Maybe mid-level. I'll be honest enough to say it confused me a little when they took him.

Lewis may or may not pan out but he's not a "mid level" talent. He has great size and speed. Physically, he's built like a #1 RB for any Power 4 team. He has "home run" speed. I believe he was a 100 meter guy in HS.

Bishop produced as a Fr in every opportunity he got. To me, he's a Jabari Small type of RB. You make the call on whether that's mid-level or not. He's a good RB.

I think Lewis has the potential to be as good as Wright or Sampson. Neither of those guys were that highly sought after out of high school. Lewis is as fast as both and has a lot more size.
