When will top QB recruits start dissing FL ?

Think about this . Everyone is saying Tebow is the best maybe ever . He can't get drafted in the top rounds because he never takes a snap from under center. Coaches don't know if he can go through his progressions as he's dropping back. You're a top QB recruit coming out next year . . . Would you go somewhere that might kill your draft status?

I know they are winning titles but most recruits want the NFL and the money. It will be interesting to see how it works out the next couple of years. Tebow is the first great one coming out of the Fl spread . When all the draft guys start breaking down why he's not a #1 pick it might open some eyes.
By 2012 the spread offense will be a staple in the NFL

The NFL will not run any type of offense, that requires the QB to run with the ball, unless he is being chased.

We need to quit worrying about who FL has and go out and get our own "pro style" beast. If we can do that it will all take care of itself........I hope.

UF/Meyer could care less about getting NFL dropback QBs. They want Tebow types that can run the single wing, pound the ball when needed, and make decent throws over the middle. In college, you can win with that.

Very true. College coaches that win consistently have a system that works and they don't change. They don't care if they mold Pro Bowl QB's as long as they win NCAA/BCS titles.
That being said, name me ONE QB that went to UF his whole college career that has done anything worth talking about in the NFL. If not for Grossman playing for a team with a tremendous defense, he would not have made the Super Bowl.
Let's see: Chris Leak? No
Grossman? No
Doug Johnson? No
Danny Wuerffel? No
Shayne Matthews? No
and the list goes on and on.

And if not for Peyton Manning UT would be in the same boat on this particular matter.

It's a double-edged sword to go to UF. They are winning NC's right now but they aren't producing too many pro-bowlers or really any big time names in the NFL right now.

they really weren't in the 90s either.

The are producing more now than they were then. They have had some pretty good defensive players drafted in the last few years and had quite a few potential NFL players on their roster this year. The only positions that their system won't produce NFL talent at are at QB, FB and the traditional RB spot.

If they continue with their current defensive philosophy and keep Charlie Strong on staff, they will at least have a defense year in and out that will cause problems for the rest of the us in the SEC regardless of what their offense does.

Strong will be gone once he's offered a good HC position. I don't see him being at UF after next year unless Urban leaves and Charlie becomes HC but I think
Addazio would be in line for that if successful.

ive been trying to think of a former college quaterback that plays like tebow to see how their game translated to the nfl but havent came up with anything...dont really think we can say what tebow can do in the nfl till we see it but im ready for him to be out of the sec. florida recruiting spread quaterbacks keeps us from having to compete with them for pro-style quaterbacks which is fine with me just like to beat them every now and then

You have to go back about 60 years to find NFL QBs who played like Tebow.

Since FL doesn't pursue the prototypical NFL dropback signal caller it won't matter. They'll find another poor man's Tim Tebow or Alex Smith again. Somebody who is a fairly accurate passer, but is geared towards a physical game and can take the abuse. And they'll continue to win and win and win...:banghead2:
I'm not sure Meyer's offensive system gets enough credit outside of Utah, Alachua Co. and coming soon.. Starkville.

They will still win but not at the level they are now when Little Timmy leaves. One of the main reasons they are so good is because Tebow is a phenomenal talent as much as it pains me to say that.

When? Probably when Urban Meyer :crap2:s on Florida by leaving Gainesville for his "dream job" at Notre Dame.

Florida will find a qb that fits their style. Hopefully no one like tebow shows up in gainesville for awhile. Yeah florida will be good for the forseeable future, but they don't make them like tebow much. Thats a good thing for us.

I dont see how it will hurt their recruiting, as long as it works. Additionally all they really have to do is recruit their state, and they will be pretty good.

As far as Tebows success on the next level (NFL) I dont see him playing a down in NFL as QB, put I do think he will play (possibly a TE), IDK.

I hate UF as much as anyone, but Tebow is one of the best COLLEGE football players to ever play, imo. He is a proven winner, great leader on and off the field and pretty darn good athlete.

Reggie Bush was the best college player I have ever seen, and it hasnt really translated over to the NFL. In college he was on a different level than every other guy on the field.

They will get top notch spread QBs until they are not winning....Like Nebraska used to do with option QBs

The good thing about florida's QBs: their backup, brantley, is not even close to Tebow. He's more of a passer and not much of a runner. Meyer will have to change his style a little when he is the starting QB in 2010.
