when will this nightmare end?

This isn't bottom yet. Check back after the season when we are 0-16 in conference play over two years.

Relatively speaking
Improving from this remains very unimpressive and means MAYBE we can look forward to beating Vandy and Kentucky.......next year. SMH, FML

This is accurate. I hope we get an SEC win this year but it may not happen until 2019.

Who is our first SEC game next year? Florida right? In the sewer. Might be the end of next year before they win one. It's that bad i think.

I don't see how our passion can get stronger man. Eventually, when you are abused over and over and over, no matter how much you love something, you have to walk away for your own health.
I like to think I can tolerate more than most. I've done 4 deployments in 5 years. But really, the loyal fans who actually care about winning and success are going for the door, if they haven't already. The only ones left standing for the Vols are doing it for social reasons and probably don't even understand the rules of the game very well.
Just for the record; I still follow the Vols, and I have been since about 1963. I don't do it for social reasons, and you don't have to be a coach to understand the game, just 55 years of being all Vol. Loyal fans don't go for the door, they stay and cheer the Vols regardless. I've seen the good, the bad, and the ugly during my time following my Vols. I do salute you for your service, but don't be one of those bandwagon fans. There is not another team in the land that I will ever follow like Tennessee. You know, my blood runs orange.

In that 55 year span, have you seen anything as bad as this? Honestly

I've thought about asking this as well to get our older fans' perspectives. I know our history, but I've only been following intently, a hardcore fan if you will, since 2000, when I was old enough to marginally understand football. Big difference between reading about it and living through lean years.

I feel your pain, but I've been a Vol for too long and been through good times and bad, I ain't quittin' and I don't fault those who do, I'm just not gonna go away without another fight or three.

Each fall I convince myself that we will be competitive . Then the bottom falls out and the misery begins anew. It is safe to say that if someone (AD) wanted to destroy the once-heralded football program they couldnt have done a better job. The parade of third rate coaches beginning with Dooley and Jones was destined to fail. Beginning with the morally bankrupt ,narcissistic Kiffin and moving on to the reality-challenged Butch Jones - one would need to look under rocks to find to find a worse group of misfits. The cherry on top of this Shite Sundae was the cartoonish search ending with Pruitt. That was ineptitude of a staggering level and made us the laughing stock of the college fb world. That bit of black comedy will likely never be seen again. We are fast approaching a death-spiral . Low fan interest-small crowds-worse recruits- worse football, rinse and repeat. Maybe Pruitt can stop this slide to oblivion, but the results so far are a mixed bag. Being a Vol fan is painful experience . If other schools can revive moribund programs , it must be possible. Why are we drowning in this quicksand of stupidity? The more we struggle the deeper we sink. It is a puzzler.

Honestly don’t think in my lifetime. I’m 51

When we're two deep across the board with SEC level players. We probably were in 2016 but Butch managed to coach down a double digit win team.
yep, and imo that's when symptoms of the current disease began to show

It will not be this year, this year will be 3-9. Next year could be worse, losing several 4* guys. Hoping he can replace them and coach them up.
I think this is a likely scenario for recruiting issues. This looks like a 6 year project, but I don't know if anyone has the patience for that.

I don't understand the whole 3 year rebuild mentality. I guess we'll see. I think you need 20 years to become great. I mean, right now, Pruitt has zero years experience with this. He will probably be at the peak of his career about 20 years from now, when he's 62. Do you want to have a guy as he goes through his peak? I honestly think that is what it'll take.

Tennessee was as good as everybody wants them to be in 1970. 6 years of Bill Battle destroyed that. 22 years of rebuilding to the peak in 1998, to undo the damage of 6. That is what I think it really takes.

We’ll improve between now and then. The long slow climb from the bottom rung of the ladder. Just ignore the next 3 games at least.

I don't think the 2019 recruiting class will survive October intact; not if the team looks as lost as they have so far.

Agree, we all know that there will be losses, but the way in which we are losing is shaking the faith of the recruits as well as our fanbase.

The earliest I forecast the nightmare to end is sometime in November 2019.

Well the game is on here, but I have things to do, so I will just listen to us get our butts handed to us, again. Not going to another game for a long time.
