When will the 2-party system end?

Then you're a moron and shouldn't vote. The govt should not be in the business of getting involved in every little social issue that comes up when this country is spinning down the bowl of bad money. It a cheap way to get low info voters to keep them in power.

America will not go under because gays can't marry or abortion is legal. It will go under if we keep on our current fiscal path

I go to church with and know several others that vote strictly social issues. I don't think that is very smart but its their business. If not for those people the GOP would be graveyard dead.

That might not be all that bad for the party to die and start over. If the GOP dropped all the social crap and focused more on fiscal necessities the we would have a legit platform that this country needs now. This is triage, the most critical issue right now is our fiscal mess.

I'm sorry, but people voting strictly on social issues on both sides are stupid. Gay marriage won't mean squat when China comes to collect or we are in the middle if a national depression. This is a real national security concern. Stop squibbling over drugs and prostitution, let people have the freedom (imagine that, real freedom) to decide how they live their lives in the privacy of their own home, and address what really matters.

Biting tongue about Church yet again making things more difficult than they need to be.

But, yet, it is in the business of social issues. I'm not sure why you're so taken aback by the idea that some people put a lot of stock in social issues.

Here's where you get absolutely absurd. America will not "go under" just because some people vote for the candidate with whom they side on social issues. Pretend everyone in this last election voted with concern for nothing but fiscal policy. There's a high chance that Obama still would have won and you'd still be complaining about the nation's economic outlook. Let me know if you can prove that America's fiscal future will get better as a result of people voting solely based on economic issues and not, you know, voting based on economic issues and and having the same beliefs as PJ, economic Master of the Universe.

I agree. I do not understand why most church people vote strictly social conservative issues. Those that think poor people only vote democrat are stupid.

Gramps. A true Christian can't vote democrat on the abortion issue alone. Period.

Of the two candidates with an opportunity to win, I preferred Obama in terms of social stance.

Here's the kicker... I prefer Obama in terms of economic stance too.

If I'm "wrong" whatever way I play it, then why the hell would it matter which issues lead me to support Obama?

Gramps, you totally have it skewed. The GOP will die because it will align with the dems on social issues. Intelligent voters don't vote on social issues. The supreme court already ruled on 1 social issue, abortion. They are about to rule on another, gay marriage. Social issues will be settled.

Dems pander to liberals and the GOP to conservatives. The reason the GOP has not done well, is because in general they agree with dems on every issue save theses 2 social issues. The fact is, for true conservatives, these 2 social issues are not all important.

Well unless you wanted a country with a record number of folks on fed assistance of some kind. First time time country loses its perfect credit rating. A bucket of scandals. A divided country. A shrinking middle class Then you voted wrong. If the above things you wanted , well then congrats.

Obama's economic policy is clearly advantageous for some people. If you goad them to vote solely on economic interests and pick Obama, you're not accomplishing anything in regards to what you believe to be the correct answer to America's economic "woes."

If they voted on economic interests only he would not be president. He would be cleaning the coke machines at a 7-11

Hey, you better watch it. Only Gramps has the (self proclaimed) authority to decide who are real Christians.

I have heard that said by several people that vote GOP but i do not agree with it. Politicians will say anything to gain a vote.
If the GOP wanted to make abortions illegal through legislation they would have done so during the Bush years when they had total control.

One cannot vote one side or the other on the basis of who will get appointed to supreme court. Look how the court is voting now. Because a republican nominates a justice to the court does not mean that justice will rule conservatively. That has been proven by this court.

Well I really like and appreciate his stance on religion. He is well versed. He has taught me some stuff by his posts.

As far as abortion. That is a no no to Christians. If they are true to their beliefs. ( there I worded it better)

That has absolutely nothing to do with Christians voting against a candidate because of their view on abortion

You legitimately believe that there is not a single person in America who stands to benefit more from President Obama's economic policy than Mitt Romney's?

I ask because there is no way for you to speak for the entire electorate or estimate the exact number of people who would vote/would be needed for a state majortity for the necessary electoral votes in an election. So, does Obama's economic policy benefit absolutely no one?

Oh yeah, guy wants to be a teetotaler, god bless him. But to declare that tose who are not are not "real Christians" just went overboard.

Really have lost all respect for him over the last few months.
