When will Pruitt/Helton have THE TALK with our 3 QB’s?

Drew Brees can pass. WM has not shown he can. I also doubt we are in the shotgun 70% of the time like the Saints. Most good or even average ps qbs are at least 6'3. That is a fact. If it wasn't you would have more than two names out of the entire NFL to point to.

“Has not shown”. So you translate to “can’t”? So YOU! Let’s see...”at least 6’3”? Just mentioned Rodgers...UNDER. Joe Montana...UNDER. Not a big fan of this dude’s passing acumen but SOME argue for him, Michael Vick, 6’0...HELL UNDER. Steve Young...UNDER. Kurt Warner...UNDER. Need somebody current? Dak Prescott...UNDER. Maybe whomever developed this 6’3 or bust but lot of busts anyway, should refund their money and let the classic scouts who concentrated on whether a QB could PROCESS better than others and make all the throws as the standard, start resupplying the league with quality signalcallers? One last thing, if 6’4 Tom Brady has 6’5 6’6 6’7 linemen in front of him, how is he seeing over them? Maybe he’s using PASSING WINDOWS? Like quality QBs tend to do?

Just throwing up a ball that is incomplete or intercepted is not making quick decisions or getting rid of the ball quicker. Its just getting scared and chucking it hoping for the best. That is why he was 42.5% passing for 3.8 ypa. What games were some of you watching? It wasn't the UT games apparently.

True freshman. He gets better or he doesn’t. Dobbs did. :)

Unfair comparison. WM appeared in 3 games as a true freshman and only had 40 attempts and wasn't expected to play this past season, with 1 TD. WM had 43 yards rushing in 3 games. JG played in 9 games, and had 139 attempts, 4 TD's, and had the benefit of a redshirt season. JG had -13 (minus 13) yards rushing in 9 games. We shall see how they progress under CJP. Also, I will be curious to see how Shrout works out for us. It should be fun to watch.

you forgot Doug Flutie 5'10" the poster boy for erm yeah height aint that big a deal.

Most NFL QB's are in that 6'3" and over range.. true. But most of them are.. not starters. If you look at actual starters that get it done they are all over the place. Currently and historically.

If you are taking mostly 3 step drops from under center being taller can be an advantage.

If you are in shotgun and have to step into the pocket being taller can also help.

That whole dynamic changes once you start running into problems (bad OL, bootlegs, pocket breaks down) in those circumstances (the modern NFL) mobility becomes an issue taller QB by mere laws of physics are less mobile in general.

Notice most "mobile" QB's tend to fall in the 6'2 and under range and pocket passers in the 6'4 and up range. Thus the magic number of 6'3. but everytime u get a Drew Breed/Doug Flutie/Russel Wilson the numbers get skewed just like the Big Bens and Cam Newtons of the world skew it the other way.

But all of that was a waste of breath because this is UT football forums and we are talking about College Football. The average height of starting, productive college QB's is substantially lower, for obvious reasons.

Are they qb's or RB's. Try looking at all if the stats, not just cherry picking to support your argument.

You conveniently left off an important stat. JG was recruited as a dual-threat QB, but had -39 yards on 66 carries. He held on to the ball too long and looked very slow. WM had 70 yards on 18 carries. I am not saying WM is the choice over JG. I am just saying it's way too early to say one is better than the other. Another important stat for you. JG is 1-7 as a starter. It's a new day. Both will get a fresh start in a new system. Trust the coaches to decide who will play and who won't.

That rushing stat I left out doesn’t matter in a pro style offense when a dual threat quarterback is not needed. Also McBride is winless as a starter as well. The stats that I posted are the ones that should be clear and evident on who the better passer is.

Based upon the lackluster play at the QB position, how about going to the Single-Wing with John Kelly & Ty Chandler...??? Student Body Left, Student Body Right...

BTW, WV is laying an egg without Will Grier in the Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl right now Vs. Utah, 27-6, 7:30 Left, 4Q...

But unfortunately grier should be 100% by opening game next season, so watching them in this game wont provide much of a viable analysis for what they can or will do next season.

Oh, there's at least a 70% chance that I'm wrong.

You're right. There's no way to know whose light turns on with different coaching. I'm just going off the eye test. I've never quite gotten the love McBride gets. To me, he looks like a 3rd string QB with a marginal arm.

Concur on McBride. Can't see a starting SEC QB position in his future. If better coaching proves me wrong then all the better.

Does anyone know how bad QD's shoulder injury is? I think JG will win it this summer. I saw JG improve every week that he played.

Have not heard a whisper about his shoulder. But since you brought his name up, it amazed me last season how in the O&W game that guy was throwing lasers then gets in a game and could'nt put a green walnut in a the bed of a ford long bed. In addition, I think this guy thinks he has waited patiently behind dobbs, its his team, and resented the heck outta getting replaced with JG. Hardhead.
