When will Pruitt/Helton have THE TALK with our 3 QB’s?

Going to the pro style I think McBride will get the edge on JG. Probaly Dormandy has the edge on JG also.

What on earth could you possibly have seen to make you think McBride has a leg up on anybody in a dropback passing game?

So if the other two are so behind mcbride, explain how he is the only one under 50% passing?
Statistically JG was the most efficient passer and protected the ball better than the other two.
Classic case of grass is greener.

Let's see. Vols were almost down to a cheerleader having to suit up for QB last year. Now we're debating about which one of four. An embarrassment of riches. Things are looking up already.

Lets see, they recruited a Pro style QB, Helton USC ran pro style Offense.
JG is a Dual threat QB with no duel in his Dual. Sacked over 20 times in 6 starts. Ran down from behind 3 times against USCe by D linemen. I think he ends up transferring. Just don't have that clock in his head to know when to get rid of ball. You can teach to throw ball out of bounds when getting sacked but the better QBs have that innate ability to slightly move and throw a strike he just don't have it and he's slow.

Don't agree with you about JG. He showed he has many things that can't be coached, like heart, grit and determination. He also has an impressive arm. Give him a real O line and coaching and see what he can do.

All 3 QB’s had the same coach.
QD=Deer in the headlights 75% of the time.
JG=Deer in the headlights 65% of the time.
WB=Run over the fn deer 100% of the time.
The IT factor. I don’t care what your stats show.

If JG doesn't put some more meat on his bones, I think he will have a hard time holding up for an entire season. Hence, the guys should be eager to compete for 2nd string. If you are afraid of the competition for that spot, than you should go elsewhere...and by elsewhere I mean a division or two lower..

So he threw 6 int's in 25% of his playing time? Ill admit JG held the ball too long on many snaps, but that can be coached, throwing high into 4 deep coverage in the middle of the field( QD in the GT game) especially as a junior shows a serious deficiency in judgement. QD has an Aaron rogers mindset with a trevor seimian skillset.

JG is a 6'4 200 pound 19 year old, give him time in the weight room, thats normal. But i would argue he showed plenty of toughness in the bama game despite his perceived lack of size.

I feel deja vu may happen again - two maybe three QB's leave for a different team - have record breaking performances that land them in the NFL and make the new coaching staff look stupid for not giving them a fair chance.

Both QD and JG were highly celebrated 4* recruits. They have the tools. With a strong OL and good WRs both of them have the capability to look really good.

Some of you seem to think they both should leave right now. Got news for you the QB signed was a 3* gamble. He will get recruited over next year.
Calm down butch we know you like your guys over Pruitt's

I think that we hired the wrong person as the coach of the Tennessee Vols. There are so many qualified coaches right here. Without seeing any of these players in practice, in film room or even really knowing how they mentally handle the pressure of the game, how much of the playbook they remember or understand, or even what the plays were that were called, the decision of who should be the starting QB has been solved!!!!!!!

Can't blame twenty sacks on a QB..McBride played with more heart an drive than the other two put together...

So when JG came back and played the rest of the season battling a high ankle sprain on his plant foot, that shows no heart? Or what about that he was the only outspoken qb on the team that was willing to take the blame and get back to work week in and week out?

I thought JG showed some real promise near the end of the year. Early in the Vandy game he was decisive and accurate. We all know he has good arm strength. He did revert back to holding on to the ball too long and hesitating in that game, but if he can be more consistent he would be lethal.

Agree.
JG is a very good option. I will be very interested in QB coaching and offense scheme for the players we have on the field. I personal think both JG and Dormady are good QBs.

Thing is if we can’t run the ball and block better it really don’t matter who is QB.

Happy with the tight ends so far but we have got to be able to run and block better. We can’t mis on OL targets.

McBride vs QD for starting job. JG transfers. New guy redshirts.

IMO

So a short under 50% passer and a turn over machine are going to start over the leader in most of the stat categories? Some of you put way too much stock in JG being some petulant child, while all available evidence shows he is a passionate leader that has grown and gotten better each game he was in.

I think you nailed this right on point. I know JG pocket time wasn’t the best but I saw in person he getting caught from behind twice and once was a 300 lb DT.... that probably for me was the most disappointing thing. Of course a year more experience and getting a full understanding of the offense will help all 3 QBs assuming Shrout RS....I think (not positive about this point) a pro style offense should be less complicated (not simple I understand that ) and easier to grasp but JG MUST become more pocket aware as a QB...no question about that.....

Wtf did that come from? I was just going on play styles. Hope Santa brings you dog turds.

McBride is not going to fit this offense at all and if you look at statistics JG is better! I don’t understand the infatuation with McBride.

JG-1,000 yds 4tds 2ints 62% completion percentage

McBride-170 yds 43% completion percentage 1td 2ints

I mean come on guys!! Get your head out of your a**!! JG is head and shoulders above McBride and actually fits this new offense!!
