im a young vol fan and ive only been following recruiting for a couple years and im blown away by the excitement that UT is generating right now with these young men. ive never seen a social media explosion like what were going through right now. Tennessee is a super exciting topic right now. Were like the harlem shake of the SEC world lol. And my question is when, if ever, was the last time you've seen this much excitement among fans, players and recruits?

Right after Bryce Brown committed.

If Kiffin hadn't bolted the answer would probably be NSD 2010.

recruiting wise this reminds me of the Jamal Lewis, Travis Henry, Cosey Coleman, Deon Grant dominoes falling back in 1997.

Ya, as much as I hate to admit it, the last time I was this excited about Vol football in general was when Kiffin was hired.

Ertel, just wondering, you have any plans to paint the rock this weekend at all? Just thinking about the huge weekend that CBJ is having and the label they are putting on it about "Family Day/Weekend" Maybe it could be pretty cool to paint a simple message welcoming all the visitors/families/parents to the Vol family for the weekend? No names or anything specific, just something to show everyone that this "family" talk isn't BS. Plus with around 1000 ppl expected for practice like I read somewhere, it could be a good opportunity to show off your work lol

I've been here awhile and have followed CFB and recruiting for even longer.

I do not think I have seen better results or momentum at this point in a recruiting cycle from any of the previous 3 staffs. Even Fulmer's better classes developed late. To me, this indicates Jones is getting who he wants and not who he wants of who's left.

He said recruiting is about relationships... this staff sure does develop relationships fast.

Not in a long time (not counting 2010)

I wouldn't count 2010. Kiffin recruited alot of the same kind of punks that sunk Fulmer and especially in that first class he finished off. He made lots of noise but the second class he started for Dooley was not this impressive this early. And best I can tell, these are high character/academic kids that are committing to Jones.

His recruiting has become impressive.

Just think if we show results on the field where this is going to go move over SAINT NICK the BUTCHER is going to be riding shotgun and your azz is getting in the back seat for now on.:)

He will show results on the field. CBJ is driven and has had success so he knows how this coaching thing works.

Interesting how many quality coaches come out of Michigan.

If he gets better than expected results this fall... you are right. UT could flat out blow up on the CFB scene.

Execution.

Build from the basic up to the complex.

I prefer his philosophy of coaching over Fulmer. Who was not that kind of perfectionist and "threw it all at them" to see what would stick.

Dooley was more similar to Fulmer I think but his was more driven by his assistants. He depended on them to be independent to make up for his lack of expertise. (That isn't a knock- CEO types of coaches have been successful but they have to be very good CEO's)
