When to start worrying?

You’re right, me worrying about coaching hires is akin to why society is falling apart.

Or, it’s hyperbolic and unnecessarily confrontational bs takes like yours that are the problem. I’ll let others decide.

Well worrying about the Vols, despite their recent lack of success, might be slightly less of an exercise in futility than worrying about society. To improve the first requires the right people stepping in and the wrong people stepping back. For the later? No clue.

On hiring a staff? Is it something to do with wait until February 1 or some crap? We should have had multiple hires by now.

I believe the offensive staff is pretty well together. DC is another story seems like they’re trying to get Steele to stay on. I wish we could get Arnette away from Miss State but keeping Steele would be a great move also if he’s willing.

Trying to get Steele to stay on. Tennessee is already paying him. So if they want him as DC the job is his.

I understand and agree with that. But what about the offensive side of the ball? Crickets for a week. Makes no sense.

We think he's bringing some coaches from UCF, and with those relationships he can just say, "hey buddy, will you work for me at UT?" and then he can relax about that position for a few days.

I was a little surprised by the Heupel hire, but am holding out that he may bring a fun style of football to watch and acknowledging he has more actual head coaching success than any coach we’ve hired since Majors.

That said, when should the lack of any announced staff begin to worry us? It’s clear that we were rejected by the top choices for HC. Is something similar at play or is this more of AD White’s tendency towards keeping these types of things close to the vest?
Most coaching staff members will not depart their current school until after signing day. You will see movement after that.

Absolutely right. The only resolution to that is someone unplugging social media, and we know that isn’t going to happen.

You cannot compare Heupel’s win pct to Jones because Heupel inherited Frosts 13-0 team. Jones inherited a sub 500 Tennessee team.

Pruitt inherited a 4 win team from Butch.
Heupel is inheriting a 3 win team from Pruitt.

Butch took over a 10-4 CM team and promptly took them to 8-6.

Butch took over a 12-1 Cincy team and promptly took them to 4-8.

But for some reason we can’t judge their records......simply because Heupel took over a 13-0 team. Yet you fail to mention Butch took over a 12-1 team.

It goes deeper and dirtier than that. But I will leave my hoped for solution coming true out.

He either stays or he quits, time to do something. He only has those 2 choices.

You shouldn’t expect anything on Wednesday. Best case scenario is a good DC hire and supporting staff and you maximize your remaining scholarships on transfers. There is no possible way we can expect a staff not yet even hired to close players by Wednesday.
Did somebody grab your phone and post as you?

Just have to wait and see how things look in the Fall. I would have expected 7 or more wins and less roster defections if they'd hired Freeze. Not sure what I expect out of this coach.

Butch Jones had a lot more head coaching experience.
The problem with CBJ was that he brought the group of 5 mentality to the SEC. He did good recruiting because he was recruiting to Tennessee instead of Cental Michigan or Cincinnati. Problem was being able to coach them up to compete game in game out at the SEC level. Heupel has experience coaching in the SEC and also played at Oklahoma as a heisman runner up QB. Definitely brings more to the table than CBJ did. Definite upgrade over previous hires. We wouldn't have been able to get him if not for AD White.
