How will the talk change?

Will WV be underperformers or will the Vols actually get some credit? I think WV is over-hyped. If the Vols handle business and just flat out win, I think some analysts will be scratching their heads.

I think the SEC will be tough this year though I expect to win some games we aren’t supposed to in the SEC

I think we still have a pretty good roster. I just think Butch was that awful.

I think this question puts a lot of pressure on WVU. I don't think all of the talking heads are going to do an about face if Tennessee takes down WVU. I think they'll paint it more in the picture of a choke on the part of the Mountaineers. Of course, should our Vols put a few more solid wins under their belt and put pressure on a few of the SEC big boys, there'll be some revisionist history going on. Until then, it'll be a WVU is overrated type discussion. IMO, of course.

UT probably has to go 4-0 to change the conversation assuming UF does their part by being 3-0 when the teams meet.... or WVU would have to be 3-1 with a big win over NCSU. ETSU and UTEP won't impress anyone unless UT lays an egg.

IMHO, everyone will call WVU overrated if UT wins. To tell the truth... I already think they're overrated.

If we squeak by it will be said WV is overrated and we got lucky. If we pull 14+ then ya MAYBE they will start admitting we are getting better.

I think the answer depends entirely on how the two teams look during the contest.

If both are crisp and disciplined, playing with drive, then the winner will get a lot of credit for pulling down a big win.

If one or both are sloppy, and the game is ugly, or it seems some players are mailing it in, then the winner won't be applauded nearly as loud.

It all comes down to how the play the game...just as it should!

the closer it gets the more they remind me of Butch Jones Cincinnati. I don't think they are as good as North Carolina State or Georgia Tech in previous openers! NC State had a pretty good QB too!

ESPN will say WV was way overated and we were just lucky and we still suck! :mad::mad:

When Tennessee wins on Saturday the sports talking heads will say West Virginia was very overrated they will also be talking about how Dana Holgorsen will be fired in December.

Leaning more towards the over-rated for WV. They will say we are improved but until we win a couple of SEC games we will suck to everyone not sporting orange shades.

WVU is extremely overrated. I hope we don't get a big head after we beat them. I think it will be good for the players to get the taste of a W back in their mouths, but I'm already dreading some of the expectations that will be unfairly put upon the team by Saturday at 8pm.

When Tennessee wins on Saturday all the Bowl Projections from ESPN,CBS Sports,Sports Ilustrated,Sporting News and College Sports Madness will predict Tennessee will be going to a Bowl Game.

I don't doubt that. It's logical since most think 5 to 6 wins right now and almost everyone expects us to lose this one. That doesn't mean they will think we are a good team though.

When we get the WIN then I'll be happy.

I'd love to totally DOMINATE and WIN by 50 but I don't ever see Pruitt doing that to any team.

I believe that Pruitt will be happy with the WIN and will play as many players as he can in every game to get them more fun and more experience and to get real game film to coach them from.

The more the backups play the better they get and our depth gets stronger.

I really never expect to see Pruitt totally destroy a team just to rack up points.

I don't give a rats (_)_) what any talking head has to say.

I want WINS and let our Teams play do all the talking.

VFL...GBO!!!

It won't matter how well we do, there are those in press that just do not like us. We're used to Fake News, when it comes to the Vols. We could win a Natty, some of the "sportscasters" would still find something negative to say, I've stopped paying any attention to most of these talking heads.
