When Oklahoma gets blown out!!!!

OP does have a good question, to which all the ADD afflicted ignored in favor of the shiney object "W-H-E-N" we Blowout the Sooners. Had he used I-F, things may be a little quieter here. It's highly unlikely that we blow out the Sooners. Games a tossup IMO.

Nonetheless the Q is a good one, albeit remote in possibility. The Hype Train will be chugging at full steam were the unlikely to happen. What would YOU think about the remainder of the season at that point were it to happen?

I would personally be more confident in the UF game. Have us as a slight favorite to win the East. And ready to give Bammer a serious run for their recruiting incentives, errr I mean money. Early games are often deceitful extrapolated over an entire season.

I have been sayin it in all oF these threads; we loose 2 or 3, OK, GA, and Bammer, win the SECCG, and for the first time since the BCS era; the SEC IS LEFT OUT OF CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENTION!

I hate it BUT, GO VOLS!

Comparing the situations. I remember reading posts on here last year after the Ole Miss game saying we were not going to win another game. So yes it has been said. My point is, yes OU is a good team, but so are we. And we have the offensive and home field advantage. OU could roll into Knoxville and total underestimate us and get blown out. If course the opposite could also happen and we get blown out. All I am saying is it could happen. Saying it cannot happen is just wrong.

You can say that it COULD happen, but you should put a probability on it....I'd say about 5%

Pre-season anything is possible. I look for a very much improved team, but with youth (even very talented youth) it is hard to be consistent against SEC talent week in and week out. I've read predictions from 7-11 reg season wins but most everyone thinks Bama will be one of the loses. I think OK and Ark will be tougher games. We may lose to Bama but they did lose 2 games last year and it seems spread offenses give their D problems. I actually think Auburn will win the west with Bama 2nd or 3rd with 2 or 3 loses. Ga has a tough schedule. I think the Tenn / Ga game winner will rule the East, and win with 2 loses. Fire away :loco:

Dude...they dominated us for much of the game last year in Norman and return most of their playmakers on offense and defense. Do I like our chances? Sure. But a blowout? Not likely at all.

Get on the bandwagon before the season starts! UT will probably remain undefeated for 3 more weeks, then we'll see.:)

We were not supposed to beat Utah State as bad as what we did but I think coming to a big stadium like Neyland so early in the season effects opposing teams just like it did California and Cincinnati. Those teams weren't as good as OK, so I just hope for a win against OK. But I predict we win by 2 touchdowns. GBO!

If the refs let us hold every play like they did Oklahoma last year it will be a blowout otherwise tight game

I like the optimism there, sport, but pull back the reins at least until we can see what this team really is on the football feild.

While a small part of me is screaming the same thing deep down inside, I'm just praying for a W anyway we can get it. This is a good test for Tennessee early and could really be a launchpad into SEC play and national respect.

I think if the offense is clicking, we make it nasty against OK. Why, because we have three things to beat a fast paced team; speed AND size WITH quickness! OK is gonna be whore out in the late 3rd qtr. YIMT!

Possibly. Oregon and UCLA seemed ok, though.

We are not going to blow OK off the field. Their new QB was the Freshman MVP of the Big 12 at Tech, he's
a TD machine when he's hot. I think we win, but if its by more than 10 points I'll be in shock.

We are so much better than people think

Lets just hope we can stop the 'Air Raid Offense' cause or DB's will be tested big time

They have 2 five star RB's that will be on the field at the same time. Perine and Mixon, whoever thinks this game will be easy is kidding themselves.

I think it will be close but that we win as defense gets a couple picks and 6 sacks. Neyland crowd noise will be epic. I respect the Sooners but this is OUR TIME!

18 months removed from destroying Bama and 11 months removed from doing everything but taking our O lines lunch money, let's not get greedy. We have taken a big step forward and hopefully they have taken a small step back. I think we will win and would love a blowout, but I think we need to be satisfied with a win. Whether it's by 1 or 100. Don't like assuming any game wil be a cake walk. Particularly a game against a legitamite program.

IF we beat Oklahoma, several things happen immediately. First, we all get trashed post game, because that's just what we Vols fans do.

UT takes a big leap in the polls, probably to @15. Oklahoma is a big, respected, solid power 5 program. Pollsters will put a lot of stock in that win.

The team gains a lot of confidence, especially if the game was close or they came back to win.

And finally--and most importantly--the Florida game becomes MUCH more important. Why? Because it'll be the final piece, and because we'd HAVE to win. The Vols have to prove that w e can break a streak, overcome the psychological advantage the scum...ER...lizards have held over us, and that we can go into the swamp and win.

Because if we lose to Florida after beating the Sooners, the hype train details at the "same old Tennessee" crossing. The mental side of the game and our credibility with the media will be demolished right as we head into the ARK-GA-BAMA stretch.

So a win over OK will do a lot, but it can all be lost in Gainesville two weeks later. In the end, IMO, Florida is the must-win game.

I think we'll beat Oklahoma, BTW. Hopefully CBJ will keep the team focused on giving the lizards the beating they deserve.

After all, that's what we ALL want to see, right? A stompin' in the swamp.

Can't wait to see Hurd chip block Striker under his chin comin in off the edge. It will change the game. Mark it down, it will slow Striker down. Scramble his eggs real good early...

Ok is a big time program, we have run it up on better competition before. We will be running the same offense and defense as last year, but with more, experience and talent. There is no ceiling, only expectations. The Hill will be hostile. The team will be violent. Ok, best come ready for a fight, because the VOLS will take this game serious, and the days are gone, when teams look past the VOLS. We will run a reverse against BG, just to mess with they minds. Brakes are for scaredy cats. GO VOLS! WIN em ALL!

We also have two stud 5* RBs that will be on the field at the same time. Plus we have the better DL and DBs.

Easy? No. However as I have said if everyone is healthy and our offense is clicking, I don't think OU will be able to beat us.

There is no way to accurately predict what will happen, but I love the idea of a blow out. Is it likely, no, but is it possible, yes.

Team 119 is better on paper by a long shot than 118. Take away a few bad calls and UT was in that game last year IN Norman, with a piss poor OLine and an immobile QB.

Flash forward 1 year, and our OLine is still unproven, but we def have more depth, and our line looked better last year with Dobbs behind center. Blocking for Dobbs is easier than blocking for Worley. Add in a few world class DL freshman, a juco CB with a 7ft wingspan and 4.4 40 speed, a new RB with home run potential every time he touches the ball, and a QB with all the tools to run CBJs offense, and I think we have a recipe for victory against the Sooners...
